Regents

Those of you who got Regents from UCSD, what are the perks (other than the obvious scholarship money).

where does it say regents...is it obvious on the pg where u get admitted?

You check your Preliminary Award Notification page (click continue through until you see a couple links).
If you got Regents or Chancellor's, it'll list it below.

I think they have the benefits on the financial aid site...extended library privileges, priority registration (really important, I hear), and something else?

2000 bucks a year or your full demonstrated need, extended library, priority registration and guaranteed housing 4 years

Has anyone gotten Regents/Chancellors from out of state?

Just curious...

yes, i am oos and i get regents...pretty damn happy about it too.

GPA: 4.00 UW and 4.45 UC GPA
SAT: 2060
SAT II: Physics - 780 and US History - 790
ACT: 31
AP: Physics B, German, US History, World History, Biology (All 5)
ECs: Few but concentrated
Essays: They got me into UNC Chapel Hill OOS, so they must be good.

so ya...there you go, an OOS applicant with Regents.

Awww. What are the requirements for Regents?

the ucsd website also says something about choosing/changing whatever college you want before you enroll this fall

...which is really tempting 'cause i'm not sure if i want to go to revelle anymore.

I don't think there are any set requirements--they just pick out applicants. I'm not sure though.

Geez, if UCSD gave me Regents's, I would go automatically.

Regents........oos..........chem major.........revelle

I got chancellor's scholarship 20k so 5k each year.

what's the difference between regents and chancellor's?

wait...chancellor's gets 5k each year? regents only has an honorarium of 2k per year. weird, it's the opposite at other ucs.

well, i'm staring at the sd site right now:
http://fao.ucsd.edu/Scholarships_UCSDScholarships_EnteringFreshman_01.htm#Chancellor

woo, looks like chancellor's gets the better things. congrats, vega07!

Chancellor's is better, but there are also restrictions on it.

On any UC campus (perhaps not Merced, lol) priority registration is HUGE! If you are offered a package that includes priority registration, think long and hard about turning it down for another UC. Ask any UC student what their #1 gripe is, and invariably you will hear, registration. It is really difficult to get the classes you want when you want them.

Hey, where do you go to see your preliminary award?

When you log in at myapplication.ucsd.edu, if you click Continue a couple times, you'll run into a page where there are a couple of links at the top. Click on Preliminary Award Notification.

thanks skyline! But I'm not anything special though. So I have no idea how I got it.

Regents is better though. If you demonstrate financial need, they'll just pay everything for you. AND you get the extended library priveleges. You get to borrow movies from the Film Library lol.
