regents

lets say… i fail two regents with the score of 60. i want to get a local diploma… is it possible for me to go to a private, or suny college with a local diploma??

You can only get a local diploma if you have an IEP. Do you?

If you are eligible for a local diploma, you can get into private schools, but I’m not certain about SUNY schools

For a local diploma, according to what I’ve been told, you need to pass 5 NYS Regents (English, Math, US/Global History, and Bio/LE).

I do… so ths mean i will get accepted into a private school wit a local diploma

Will you? I have no idea, but your application will at least be considered assuming your GPA is acceptable and you have required admissions tests/are applying to test optional schools. How long do you still have to take regents/which ones do you have? You only need a 65 to pass, so you should still aim to meet that threshold if possible

Im in my senior year. Nd i hve only june to take it

So im scared… i mess up pretty bad

Well, you have several months to prep and study, so it’s definitely not impossible. Have you already applied to colleges?

Yes i have

Private colleges aren’t going to care about your regents grades. They’re only given in NY. And the whole diploma thing - shouldn’t you have talked to your GC about this before…?

Which two Regents are we talking about??

To be honest, most of the world does not care about Regents grades. The kids in my school- a private school in NY-- don’t take them and get into great colleges.

The city of Oswego has a GREAT Regents prep site. Google it. They break it down by the particular Regents, and offer explanations, practice questions, the works.

Talk to your guidance counselor on Monday about what you need, what it means if you do and do not pass those two exams in June. Please listen to him/her over the advise of strangers (myself included) over the internet.

Good luck to you!
