so...what is it good for really? they are now just giving 1000 dollars and "prestige?" I DEMAND MORE MONEY! I mean, is that it? are we at least in the honors program??

Dude, chill, and be happy. You get 1000 over 4 years, so you get 4k.

You have no idea how much i want that scholarship.

Can't get any more money unless it's need-based aid. Berkeley only offers $1K cause it thinks that Regents at Cal can pull you over already. There's no honors program in Regents. There are honors for majors though, if you want to pursue honors for your degree.

yeah, practically the only good thing about it is that it replaces all subsidized loans with real scholarship money, i.e your financial need is the amount of $$ you're gonna get.

As for the advisers, meh, I don't even know who mine is after so many years. I went to a couple of events and s/he didn't show up. Then I stopped going to the Regents club. But it all depends on how active you want to be part of it.

What we noticed was that Regents eliminated both loans and work study in the financial aid package.

i don't know. i mean if regents is for a highly talented group of students as they claim in the brochure, i feel like they should support us more financially!!!

Well, this is a public school after all, and not Stanford where their alumni inundate them with disposable cash. You gotta put things in perspective.

er.. is the prestige really worth that much after we graduate and if/when we apply to grad school?

Well, other than putting it on your resume, there's really nothing to it after college.

As for more aid, Berkeley is pretty stringent on need-based aid already. Don't expect them to give more for merit-based.

your GPA after the first semester is much more important than whatever title you enter the school with

quite true.
