Anyone hear about Reggie Bush? I read in the LA Times today that he wasn't the no. 1 pick for the draft due to some problems with "New Era." I don't really follow up on college football (but I will soon) but wow, he's screwed. He's about to be sued for $3.2 million, and his family has been in debt because of his step-father....

Any thoughts? Sorry if I'm sending the wrong message or offend anyone...just thought it was worth discussing because it's not just Reggie Bush and his family at risk, but also USC.

lol, did you sign up on these forums just to reply to this thread? :)

Also, there was all this stuff about how the Bush family stopped paying their rent for a house that New Era bought for them. And about having Bush promote New Era and providing him with an agent...

Ya if Bush is found to have been intimately involved with the New Era business and his family is also found to have taken financial inducements, USC's entire 2005 season, and a part of the 2004 season, could be called into question by the NCAA.

Bush really isn't that screwed though. It really doesn't matter that he went second pick instead of first, he will be making plenty of money. It would definitely suck to be sued for all that money but honestly i'm more worried about the impact this could have on USC and the football program.

That wasn't the reason; even the Texans have stated that. They wanted a contract signed before the draft, but they were unable to get a deal made with Bush's agent. Mario Williams, on the other hand, agreed to their offer so they just went ahead and took him.

I heard he's going to New Orleans Saints. N.O. hasn't finished repairing the Superdome from Hurricane Katrina. It's supposed the be completed by end of Summer!!?? The Saints have threatened to moved to San Antoino or Los Angeles (lol). But N.O. extended their contract to stay in the city. Time will tell...if not another hurricane comes again...

Yeah, the Saints did draft him. But they are hoping to boost their ticket sales now that they have him on board. Either that or they might eventually trade him, we'll never know until the NFL season begins in August.

A Katrina-type hurricane could easily hit Houston next year, so perhaps Reggie Bush should be glad he went to a city already hit, not one that's going to get hit

Reggie dropping to New Orleans won't be such a bad thing for him. He'll lose a significant amount of signing bonus money, but he'll make up for it in incentives when he is able to actually run behind an offensive line that is not the worst in NFL history (Houston has that).

As far as Lendale White goes, he gained weight after the season ended, performed poorly in scouting workouts, and never ran a timed 40 yard dash. These things, along with rumors swirling that he has already failed an NFL drug test, led to his drop to the second round.

The Bush house situation will have no effect on Reggie's NFL career. What i'm most worried about, as I will be attending USC next year, is the possible punishment handed out by the Pac-10 and NCAA to the USC football program for possible involvement in the situation, meaning a possible loss of scholarships and stripping of NCAA and Pac-10 titles from the time period that Reggie's family lived in the house.
