Regional Admission Rep

I have heard over and over again that one should contact their regional admissions rep if they want to discuss their deferral, etc., However, my daughter has called the admissions office twice, and both times they have said that there is "no regional admission rep", that the files are read by different people...that say, the east coast doesn't all go to one person, etc...."
Does anyone know if that is correct? If not, then how the heck do we find out who the regional admission rep is if they won't tell her over the phone??????

Mommypain,

I think the regional rep is the one that conducted the admission info sessions in your area. The list of people is here.
http://www.princeton.edu/pr/admissions/u/eves_0405.htm

I think that apart from the student, the HS guidence counsellor should also speak to the rep.

Forgot to add. Once you have the name for the rep from the list, you can go to princeton.edu and do a People search on the name, and you will get phone and email for the person.

Sugee: You are a "god". Thank you. I hope you were accepted.

Come to think of it, we were at the October 24th session at Princeton. I just didn't put two and two together.

Is there a list of the adcoms and their repective positions, eg the "Admissions Hierarchy" ?

Mommypain,

Thank you for the compliment. Usually I am the recipient of help in CC, was glad to be of assistance for once !

I am not the applicant, my S is. And he got deferred. He and husband attended the Oct 24 session at Princeton. Yes, they too did not put 2 and 2 together. They arrived a half hour early, and this lady was all by heself, and was quite friendly apparently. But they just spoke a few words of hello to her and headed off to the Art gallery for the half hour.

gianievve,

Congragulations ! I have not seen any heirarchy chart anywhere on the web-site.

Sugee:

From what I have gathered off of the threads, many many NJ students were deferred. For the first time I wish we lived in South Dakota! It also seemed to me that a large majority of those that were accepted had very, very high SATs, etc., and had music in their backgrounds. Not that there is anything wrong with it, but I am just wondering where all of the "athletes" are. I read so much about athletes being able to have "lower" scores, etc., which I will admit my daughter wasn't in the 1500s, but I have yet to find an athlete that was admitted beside Dizzymom and one other. So much for people saying that athletes had an easy time.

I don't think we have any idea what happened with the athletes, since as MikeD pointed out on the athletes thread, not many athletes are on cc. We just don't know. I know of one who was admitted whose parent posts on cc. I wish we did have a bigger sample! I would love to know all the stats. Karen

My S's stats are on the ED decision thread. His screen name is gaussianprime. He's a three sport athlete with 9 varsity letters whose application was suported by a coach.

Cookiemom, his stats are awesome. He was such a strong candidate even without his sport! I would be interested in how some of the recruited athletes with lower stats fared.

mommypain mentioned that many NJ ED'ers were deferred. from what i know, that's true. i attend a very competitive private school in NJ, and only 2 kids got in out of 8 who applied (both were athletes). and also, you said that many musicians got in. i am a serious pianist, yet i was deferred. does anyone know why so many NJ'ers and musicians are deferred?

Cookiemom:

Wow!!!! Can you son do our finances!!!! Awesome math.

Will he be playing any sport at Princeton?

He's going to row crew and compete on the math team. He considers math his primary sport.

The coach assured him that the crew practices would not interfere with his academics and that the team members are all serious students. Crew is traditionally a high AI sport, and they depend on these kids to bring up the AI average for the school.

HAHAHAHAhAhAHA, lol @ cookiemom. Math is not in any way a sport. HTH.

Yes, MommyPain, the rep that came to phoenix (kelly sortino) reiterated that there were no regional reps. She was just chosen to come to az- if u look at the list, other places that she covered included illinois and wisconsin. I just called Pton today and spoke with an admissions officer, who said that the policy of Princeton is that the files of applicants are not discussed, as there are usually multiple and often intangible reasons applications are deferred.

Hey..weird. Kelly Sortino did my info session at Princeton. =)

Apparently, from what we've been told., Pton has strict rules regarding practice and meets.....they do take the studies very seriously
