Regional vs. state awards

<p>I was just thinking about the size of some states and thought of this...</p>

<p>Is a state award from a small state (say population of 1.2 million like NH) more prestigious than a regional award from a very dense state (say a population of 7.5 million)?</p>

<p>I think it all depends on how many people you compete against? I mean, if you win a statewide essay contest that only had 3 competitors....you get the message.</p>
