Registering for Classes before Orientation

I'll be going to UCF Summer B, and I was wondering if I could register for classes before orientation and whether or not this was a good idea. Thanks for any help.

Congrats!! My D is going to Summer B as well, and its recommended you wait until orientation to register. We did put some classes in her shopping cart - just in case…when are you going to orientation?

I figured that. Thanks for the advice! & I am going the 23-24.

We’re going the 26/27…be sure to tell us any interesting things you find out. Seems to me that Day 1 is sooo long 9-9pm? crazy?!

I will! Hopefully they’ll get done before that! 12 hours? Godness!

The computer won’t let you physically enroll in your classes until you complete orientation. You can fill out your “shopping cart”, but there will be a block on your enrollment until the orientation hold is cleared.

I attempted to register for classes b4 my orientation (Jun 17) and it wouldnt let me cuz I have an Orientation hold , but my question is , by puttin it under my shopping cart, does it hold me a spot in class???

Ohh okay, dang. And no it doesn’t hold your spot because I had a class in my shopping cart and now it’s not available because the class is now full with other students.

UPDATE: We’ve JUST completed Day 2 of orientation. Still on Orlando…right down the road from UCF. We are EXHAUSTED! Day 1 was looooong - we got to the hotel by 8-9pm and got there at 8AM!!! but for me it was informative at times & boring at time, for my daughter reinforced her decision that UCF is by far her #1 choice. She did however, change her major TWICE during orientation <smh> but I’m glad that it was her original idea of film. </smh>

She could NOT register for classes but on Day 2…she registered w/ her advisor for BOTH Summer & Fall!! She got the classes she wanted. I will give this lil piece of advise. DON’T worry about NOT getting the class you wanted, they HOLD seats for incoming freshman so there WILL be a class for you. Full time in Summer is 2 classes…

Ask me questions…I’ll give you answers (if I can remember :)
