Registration for AP test now in the fall

I didn’t see this posted anywhere here. The College Board has changed the registration date for AP tests from March to November. Their claim is “The College Board is moving its AP registration deadline to the fall because their data have shown that students who enroll in the fall generally perform better on end-of-year exams.”

My claim is that they will make more money from kids who otherwise would have opted out of taking it for various reasons. My oldest DD and most of her class did not take the AP Bio exam because their teacher didn’t even get through a good chunk of the curriculum. Our school also doesn’t have an honors equivalent for most AP classes. It is either CB with everyone else (since doing away with general classes) or AP. Kids take the AP for more rigor without the want or need of the test at the end.

If you want to register late or withdraw your registration, there is an extra $40, I’ll call it a penalty.

This was discussed a month or two back with the same conclusion you got: it benefits the college board more than the students (and their parents who are likely paying for the exams).
