Registration for Freshman Classes

There is a link to the Online Waitlist at the bottom of the COD homepage. You can put your name down on the list (via schedule number).

It gets ridiculous at Orientation how everyone stresses and works late trying to arrange a schedule and acquire the 25 classes. It's really not worth it. You'll be changing whatever you have anyway and you'll still be in big intro classes arranged in what may or may not be what you intended. There's not too much advice we can give you considering you will not know how you like your schedule and won't really know until you start your classes. You're best bet is to look at what you need for requirements and possible majors and just do a heavy list of them. You can find the information you need on the online undergraduate record or the respective department websites.

If you really want a class, hawk isis (check the course availability function) until you see it open. Just do that a few times a day. Schedules are in constant flux through the drop deadline. If it's waitlisted, email the professor. They can be stubborn; if so, don't bother pushing it. Note, none of this has to do with orientation. Just enjoy the company there (of course that'd be difficult if they're stressing over schedules too). If you still need 25 classes, don't think too hard. Just think of those dream classes like basket weaving or hip hop dance and list them with a brief reason you want them. You probably won't get to them.

When it comes time to register and the computer person politely informs you your dream class is full, just move on down your list. Unfortunately the forces that be, didn't want you to have the class at that time. Read the last paragraph again.

Please excuse my forward tone. I have to deal with a fall schedule that I'm not thrilled about but was dictated by my major. You upcoming first years have an opportunity to enjoy orientation. You can set up your list ahead of time and just indulge on the ice cream and hot tub. Unfortunately, I had a fever during orientation and had to walk down Maury to get cough syrup. Maury ave. looked really sketchy especially at night to a first year who had no clue where he was.
