hello, I am a transfer student and I am confused about the registration process. My orientation materials seems to indicate that a counselor will contact me once I sent my orientation data form, but after doing so i didn't get any response.

When I checked the registration site, most classes seem to be filled up already, so I registered for classes that were left. I called UB and some one in my department said I would be registered in blocks at Orientation (July) is that true?

My general requirements are all completed, except for a language which I suspect I will take over the summer at my CC. So my forst semester is going to be all core classes, wish me luck!

Can’t answer specifically for transfers, but I’d believe what UB told you. This is the way it works for freshmen, which sounds the same - blocks of seats are reserved for the department advisors to register their new incoming students. They do not show up as open/available on the UB website. They will mail you your schedule, it does come separate from the orientation kit and arrived here approx. a month later, then they go over it with you individually at your summer orientation. They ask that you don’t attempt to drop/add or otherwise modify your schedule until then as you may find you can’t add/change. For freshmen at least, the purpose of the block is to allow the dept. advisors to put kids in same/similar majors together to help assimilate, or something like that. All of this only happens the first semester, then you’re on your own to register for classes.

Good luck!
