Registration Order for New Freshmen?

Somehow I've missed finding a convenient link to how registration dates are set for newly admitted freshmen at the various freshman-admitting colleges at the U of MN. Have you registered yet? When do/did you find out your registration date?

D is not home right now so I'm going to wing it from memory but I recall she got an e-mail telling her to go through one-stop and register. I think you can pick your date as long as it is available. Do a search of the umn.edu site for OFYP (Orientation First Year Programs) and see if that gets you to registration. Hope this helps.

We leave tomorrow night -should be fun.

Just to clarify TokenAdult... you do know that registration happens on the second day of the students assigned orientation date correct?

PD-
You got that correct. But it helps to do the Graduation Planner and practice searching for open classes/sections before you go. Have fun!

Sorry just re-read the thread and now I see that you, PD were clarifying for Token. Hopefully he/she got it.

Thanks for the helpful replies. My son got into his first-choice courses on his PSEO registration day. Computer science was top priority, and then Chinese and creative writing.

You all (or your kids) did realize that they can register for BOTH semesters right now(if they have been to orientation)? Surprisingly second semester had more closed sections than first, but D still got all her preferred classes AND a great schedule!

I think PSEO students have to register one semester at a time. Thanks for the tip about two semester registration though; that may come in handy later.

You are most welcome... hope it helps.

hmmm, so we can register 2nd semester now? Better go do that before all my language classes fill up.

tokenadult,
excuse me but what is a "PSEO"?

btw and to all,
I looked through onestop and it seemed to me we could register online, but
letters from UMN told me just as PD said, "registration happens on the second day of the students assigned orientation date".
Is there a contradiction? Should I register now or wait till the orientation? I am really confused and hope anyone can help me figure this out? :)

PSEO = Post-Secondary Enrollment Options, a program for high school students studying at college for eleventh or twelfth grade. I think PSEO students have some different rules for registration. I have no idea what the regular freshman schedule is.

oh,thank u tokenadult.

also wish to hear some more about regular freshman

wweagle-
realize this is late to answer, however...you must attend orientation before you can register, but once you do attend orientation you can register and/or change your schedule online from home.

believersmom-
Thanks very much and this is NOT a late answer...But one thing I am very worried about is that I haven't received the letter concerning orientation arrangement yet. Do u know when is the orientation? And is it held by UMN or the specific college I will enroll?
Thx again.

ww-
Have you registered for your e-mail/online access through One Stop yet??? If not, you need to go to the UMN.edu website now and do it. You will need your student ID and possibly a temporary passcode (it was a while ago when my D did this). Not to panic you but... about half of the orientations are over already and clearly your letter with details got misplaced. I would also CALL the U right away on Monday and let them know you are in the dark on all this. Had you given an e-mail address when you applied? Pretty much everything they mail they also e-mail, so not sure why you haven't been getting this stuff.
Orientation is a University run program and one PART of it is conducted in your school of major(like CLA or Carlson).
Another resource for orientation info is Orientation & First-Year Programs
Good luck.
