Correct. Registration for the first 11 credits begins online in July. Students will hear from a peer mentor prior to that time. They will register for the remaining credits during Orientation once they’ve met with their academic advisor (which also occurs during orientation). A specific date will be provided as of May 1 along with an online tutorial for registration.

Remember to review your admit pack thoroughly. It provides a lot of answers for students and families regarding what comes next.

java, thanks for posting a link to the admit pack timeline piece. Just remember we are trying to ensure the welcome site is accessible only to admitted students and families so if people need access to the site we’re asking them to PM us.

W&M Adm - I’m sorry if you have expectations of privacy for a publicly accessible page on your website. Not sure what to tell you about that, other than that it is incongruent with the reality of the digital age we live in. Even the basic search skills covered in W&M’s own Digital Information Literacy program (that is required for all incoming freshmen) are sufficient to locate the page. Keep in mind I haven’t been a freshman for the better part of a decade and read OP’s post not knowing what the URL of the admitted students site was. If I can find it, anybody can. There are plenty of secured areas to deliver private information, not the least of which is MyWM.

Thank you for the responses. I will check out the link.

java, we certainly realize that in this day and age information gets transmitted at warp speed. This year we purposefully took the admitted student site out of myWM because myWM required a password which meant parents didn’t have automatic access to the site and also meant that students oftentimes struggled to gain entrance to the site. Furthermore, myWM has limited online capabilities and our current site is far better.

We are working with Google to try to make the site unsearchable which unfortunately just takes time.

We certainly appreciate that people need questions answered quickly which is why we’ve been on CC night and day to respond as quickly as possible to any posts or private messages sent.

We are not trying to be difficult, we are simply hoping to provide the best information and experience to our admitted students.
