How are we supposed to find courses and add them to our schedule for fall? I have been using ISIS to look for classes I would be interested in taking, but it seems as if it doesn't show all the possible courses. For example, switching between "all courses" and "courses that fit my schedule" helps me to find different courses. Also, I looked at the list of UF Fall 2010 courses, and it seemed like there were so many more than were on ISIS. Is this just because they haven't finished putting them up yet?

Yes, I know that I need to wait until Preview to actually register, but I was wondering where to find the actual fall courses to prepare for Preview. I need at least two classes specifically for my majors, and I want to make sure to get them.

The list on ISIS should be complete. The difference in that and the list on the website is that ISIS doesn’t show full classes. (A lot will be full by now, sorry!) I haven’t noticed any differences between the normal ISIS list and the ones that fit your schedule, but I could’ve just overlooked them.

mathscience,
You can’t see all the sections for all the courses because they don’t open them up until preview. All the upperclassmen scheduled, but then they hold some classes/sections for each preview time. And, there is no guarantee that you will get all the classes you want at preview. For instance, last year my d went to her preview scheduling appt w/ the honors advisor. She got her honors course, which was priority reg’d for her, and then she went to the room to schedule her remaining classes. She only needed a diversity credit, and she had certain classes she wanted ranked in her head for that, but she was unable to get the first couple that she wanted. Already full by the time she scheduled during that preview.

You can do drop/add later … where you stalk isis hoping someone’s dropped a course at at a time that you want.

D did that for spring semester. She got the diffyq class, but she got a horrible time … so she kept stalking and finally was able to move up a couple of hours. So, remember … you can’t be too picky on times, especially for classes you want. If you see something during preview, grab it. No guarantee it’ll be there if you dawdle for 15 to 20 minutes thinking things over.

Oh shoot I dont know what classes to pick…
I’m an incoming freshman trying to go for an aerospace + mechanical engineering degree…
I am going straight to calc 3 honors… i looked at the model schedule on UFs website and i clep out of most of freshman year… All I have in mind is calc 3 honors and physics 1 with calculus…

Well, my problem is that I have a ton of dual enrollment credit but not in my majors (math and physics). The courses I need to take are prereqs that will open up a range of other classes while I need very few gen ed, so I feel I need to get these classes or else I will have wasted a semester.

All you guys pretty much need to just wait till preview. They hold sections of a bunch of classes and the advisors can help you figure out what specifically you need to take. And nobody follows that 8 semester plan, it’s useless for almost everybody.

All you do the night of the first day is make your schedule, you have like 4 hours to do it, no reason to worry about it now

You’ll pick classes at Preview, but like everyone says, you’ll probably change every single class you signed up for before school starts. Just be persistent stalking ISIS and you’ll eventually get the classes and hopefully times you want. It may take even up through add drop, but just remember, you’ll have all summer and the first week of classes to change things around.

D came in with 45 hours of AP, and essentially all her gen eds too. She’s a chemE major. Her first semester classes were calc 3, honors enriched phsyics 2060, intro to engineering seminar ENG 1002, cultural anthro 2410 (which counted for her diversity gen ed which most people don’t have even if they AP a lot of classes like she did), and ARC 1701 architectural history (because she just took an elective). With that schedule, the engineering advisor suggested that was a good beginning (14 hours) to get her feet wet and still be able to adjust to college, and, of course, go to football games. :)

Last semester she took

Chem II w/ lab 2047?
H enriched physics 2061 w/o lab (used AP credit for the lab)
diffyQ
engineering stats STA 3032
um … and tech writing for engineers ENC 3024

this semester she’ll begin the chemE sequence with something called materials and energy balancs, I think. Orgo. P-chem. and Bio II, which she’s attempting to switch to general psych as she’s already tested out of bio I and II.

Not having gen eds left pushes you faster into all the upper level classes, but those are the ones she enjoys, so she doesn’t mind. Her friends look at her schedule and cringe, but she’s cool as she’s a total math/science girl. In fact, she’s gonna minor in math.

If you are very strong in math, it’s an excellent class. Also, you gotta love physics. LOL She got an A in both 2060 and 2061. I think she liked Furic more than Stewart in the spring, but all in all … a positive experience. Again, compared to the 2048 and 2049, which her roommates took … she felt their curriculum was easier.
