I regret not getting into Deerfield and Andover.
Idk why, I already got in Exeter...

I have no regrets whatsoever about going to exeter =)

Try and be happy! Don’t let some of the banter on CC discourage you from Exeter.

You were accepted into one of the most prestigious, amazing academic environments in the country! Exeter is a great school- my son will attend in the fall and my friend’s daughter absolutely loves it there! Many students would love to be in your shoes. :)

Yah, Exeter’s awesome. I’ll admit it.

It’s not Andover, but it’s next in line.

I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention.

Cocktails tonight?

no regrets at all. :)

How can you regret not getting into a school? Do you mean you like regret applying or something…? Getting in really isn’t up to you so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I don’t regret not getting into Exeter and being wait listed at Deerfield. After all, it was all out of my control. I did my best, but either it wasn’t good enough, I just wasn’t a good fit for the schools, or FP families were chosen over me. I’m fine with that, because I’m going to my top choice anyway!

Idk…
Its weirld because Exeter is a perfect fit for me

So stop regretting not getting into other schools!

:)

yeah i know

I feel the exact same way

When you go to exeter, you will have so much fun that you will wonder why you didn’t feel 100% happy to be going there in the first place! You will meet so many new people and learn incredible things! Getting into BS is very hard- and its fantastic that you were accepted into one of the best! Try not to dwell on applications past- there are probably a hundred people who want to be going to Exeter this fall but didn’t get in- and you did! :)

Haha there are actually damn near 2,500 who wanted to be going to Exeter

I suspect it is more a blow to the ego than a sense of real loss about the 2 schools. However, how you deal with the rejection can really be a character-building time. Also, it can prepare you for inevitable setbacks later in life-whether your dream college, job, spouse, whatever. If you can focus on the happiness of the acceptance at a really great school where you think you will fit in better anyway, I bet you will soon forget about the other 2 schools. How about digging into their course catalogue and finding subjects you might like to study over the bext couple of years? You could read A Separate Peace which was written about Exeter (days long gone). I bet there is a Facebook area for new Exeter students you might start investigating. Maybe you will meet some great friends. Good luck!

OP: There is an Exeter facebook group that someone on CC started. I think it’s something like Future Exonians 2013or something like that. My son joined (not me) so I can’t remember the exact name. You could probably search it though…

Its not like I didn’t want to go to Exeter…
It was my first choice by far; its probably more of an ego thing for me to get rejected to 2 schools out of 3.

Vk77,

If Exeter was your first choice and you got in, why do you care about the outcome at the other schools? It is really rare even for the most talented students to get into all the top prep schools. Would you rather get into multiple schools and be wait listed or rejected at your first choice or be rejected everywhere and get into your first choice? Brush aside your ego and be thankful for getting into your first choice. There are lots of kids out there who are wait listed at their first choice schools.

It’s human nature to want to be wanted, and to have options, but if Exeter is your first choice, you should feel lucky that you are not being distracted by other offeres. Choosing from multiple offers isn’t always fun.
