Last year I attended a smaller-sized school and went into my freshmen year with a bad attitude, never really giving the school a chance from the start. As the year went on I made some of the best friends I have ever had and found myself really liking the school. After Christmas break, my closest girl friends and I decided we were going to transfer to a bigger state school. We all got in, but as this semester has gone on I'm starting to really regret my decision. Not only is my new school MUCH harder than my old school, but my loneliness and the fact that I miss my old school has made me a miserable person to be around and it is affecting my grades. I'm wondering if it would be weird or crazy of me to transfer back to my old school, and if anyone has done this before? Any advice or words of encouragement, haha, would be helpful. Thanks!

People do it all the time don’t worry.

It is not that uncommon to transfer back. I am currently considering transferring and one of the thing the dean explained to me was that I could come back if I did not like my new school. However, if you want to transfer back, you should do it asap so it is easier for your old school to take your credits into account.

For some reason I am thinking my other school does not even know I transferred because my account/e-mail are still active and I was offered aid and scholarships. So cross your fingers for me!

I transferred to a community college from my old school, and although I have withdrawn officially, my user account and e-mail are still active. It is very easy to readmit–at my school at least, they say it is like you never left. As long as your schedule isn’t posted on your account and your professors aren’t emailing you about assignments, etc. then you should be good! Lots of people transfer back, it is totally understandable.
