wait, i'm confused. so they read all the applications and then they go through them again?

They first read applications and create summaries of each applicant. They then meet in committee about these applicants, using these summaries (in part) to help them build the class.

Aaah!!

Good luck everone!!!

crap, is it too late to send in supplemtary info.?

Are you domestic or international?

Janeerye: I'm wondering the same thing! If we send them a letter about our latest accomplishments...would it reach them in time???? Freaking out!

I think you'd be kinda late now if you're a domestic applicant...

Yep, domestic apps have been compiled and are in committee as of today...

For international applicants, can my teacher fax in an additonal letter of recommendation?

I'd do it really soon, akashbansal. :)

Wait to hear what Ben has to say, though. I don't know if international apps have been all compiled yet, but it sounds like they may not be yet.

I can send it in by tomorrow..Wud that be ok?

So....no chance whatsoever an update letter would even be looked at? :(

well, it's been two months :-</p>

If you're a domestic applicant, they're already in selection committee and making the final decision on your files.

i am an international from Canada.
i just want to say that, this selection is the final stage of the whole process.
let us just relax and wait calmly.
best of luck to everyone including me, we should be proud of ourselves.

Howdy,

Sorry guys, it's too late at this point to submit supplemental materials for domestic apps. I think that may also be the case for international apps, but I will double check with some other folks in the office to be sure.

It's not that you can't send it in; it's just that it is highly unlikely that the selection committee will ever see it. All of the folders have moved from the records room to the committee room - from this point on, an applicant's supplemental materials will be held in the records room until the folder is returned (which happens after a decision has been made).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it is a good 6 weeks after the RD deadline...

I wouldn't worry too much about it though; supplemental materials at this juncture are unlikely to influence a decision. Most of what we receive is either consistent with the rest of the application, or alternatively a last-minute attempt to counter previous blemishes (which unfortunately pretty much never works, in my experience).

Dajiang gives great advice up there - do the best you can to relax while the committee does its thing, and ALL of you should be proud of what you've accomplished. You are all awesome.

are you gonna mail out decisions on Pi day again?

Not sure if it will be exactly on that day, but certainly very close! :-)

Haha, my dad fell over laughing when I told him that decisions were mailed last year on pi day...

Did he hurt himself?
