Regular Action selection begins today

Haha, no. He just loves the culture at MIT and is really hoping I get a chance to go there. I actually find the whole ordeal suprising, given that he is a contributing CMU alum. I'm glad that he has been so open-minded about the whole process...

hey Ben- do you think the committee got my midyear report? I think the MIt received it on Monday 14th

ya, for the mid year report thingy.
i except they will receive it on Feb 18th, are they gonna process it, or they just skip my mid year report??????

the # of days till the decision comes=the # of days that i can still be carefree and happy...

To follow up on my previous post, I checked and it is also too late to send in supplemental materials for international apps as well. :-(

Wait wait wait..... is it Ben Jones - as in Ben Jones??

yessss!!!!

Ben, I have a question. I know you read this forum, but do you ever mention you saw a kid on CC before? I was just wondering because I saw that you use threads from here sometimes on your blog.

aha.

;)

RE midyear reports that come in from here on out - for admitted students, they'll be looked at when the folders return to the records room to make sure that they're consistent with the app that got you admitted.

KirbusPrime - not sure what you mean exactly, do you mean mention in committee or around the office? The answer would be that I don't bring up individual posts because this is "your place" and you shouldn't feel like anything you say here will affect the admissions process (it won't). The only things that I share with the office are general themes/threads and related ways I think we can make our process more clear/fun/etc. If I got the question wrong let me know and I'll try to give a more relevant answer. :-)

benjones - u da man...thx for showin up here...
question: can we MIT applicants from CC collect money and send cookies/coffee to the adcoms (j/k)

adides, what happens if it turns out they don't like the kind of cookies or coffee you sent? then it'd be working against you... ;)

darn, LSA just blew off my idea...well, if we all are poolin money, hell just setup a temp starbucks shop outside their offices (i can volunteer to operate tht)...neways...3:30 AM here, got to catch some sleep before my anxiety level gets too high...

Yeah... what if you put warm cookies into a plastic bag and mail it, but the condensation makes the cookies soggy? Or maybe, the cookies are too hot, melts the plastic and makes everyone sick?

Maybe you should send cookies after you're admitted... that way, there's motivation involved... After the cookies are eaten, you will have no more sway.

Speaking of which, I think I owe the admissions people some cookies :). But that'll probably happen sometime *after I take lessons from Emeril. BAM!

Hi Ben,

When was the cutoff date for midyear reports to be seen by the committee? I think mine went out some time ago, but it still says "Not Processed." Eeek, and I need every last bit of help to get me in. :(

You still want to go to MIT, theleet?

yes, so I can argue with the admissions people about AA every time I pass the office.

I'm sure they'll love you.

Did you send in a supplement presenting all those thoughts? ;)

benjones,

i have a quick question.. i am an international applicant from Canada.. my school only sent my 10 - 12 transcript. will that hurt my application in anyway?

in addition, do you know how much will a letter of rec from a past MIT prof who is now teaching at UW help?

thx

If you sent it awhile back, it most likely made it into your file. I think MyMIT app tracking is a bit behind, as the records folks have been inundated with mail and have been spending all of their time trying to make sure the folders are as up-to-date as possible for the committee.
