Decisions will be mailed on March 22. The only people we will email are international applicants who have been waitlisted or denied. To the rest of you, the old-fashioned mail is how you will get your decision.

Right now we are in an interesting phase of the reading process. We're down to the final six or seven hundred spots, and we are in small committees of four or five, going around the table with our files. Each application gets ten minutes; we discuss the issues, and then we vote. It can be funny how defensive we all get about our files--we each want the students from our territory to be admitted.

Does this sound scary? It's not meant to be. Human eyes are reading your applications and making decisions--that should be reassuring."

If I got in early action and sent my forms in saying that I was going over 2 months ago, when will I get all the stuff saying what dorm I'm in and my internet ID, etc? Is that not until the summer?

I'm pretty sure you get all the dorm 'stuff' in June- they send it to everyone at the same time.
Try not to read to much into how long it takes you to receive your decision. I got in ea and I didn't find out until a week after it was mailed (I live about 40 minutes from the campus).

Regarding the length of time it takes to get your admissions letter....

My son's EA letter came very late so he called the admissions office to inquire. They obviously couldn't tell him the results, but one person did point out that fat acceptances tend to come later than thin rejections since the envelope is much bigger. Sure enough....she was right. so don't sweat it if the mail takes a while to reach you.

If two years ago is any indication, they seem to stagger the mailings - sending the coastal ones a day or two before the midwest ones.

And yes, the c-net (the term used for chicago's computer network) and housing stuff come in June. When the cnet info comes, act fast if you want your favorite ID, as it is first come, first served. Chicago allows you to pick your own.

They didn't send me anything confirming that I sent the papers in saying that I was definitely coming. Should I just assume that they received it?
