Do colleges outright reject you early or do they just tell you when they send everyone their letters of admissions/rejections?

i got rejected SCEA from Yale. is that what you mean?

Yup, you can get either an acceptance, rejection, or deferral. So rejections are very possible...unfortunately.

This is for regular decision not early action or early decision. All application materials have been submitted and the schools state the application as complete and ready to be reviewed. Will they notify you early that you have been rejected or just wait till April? Thanks.

you have to wait until april. sucks.

Actually with my friend, UC San Diego sent her a early letter saying that her SAT scores were not high enough for the program so she got rejected.

Some schools write early, but for the majority, you'll have to wait for April. Check the specific college website to be sure...

(I know schools that give early acceptances and early rejections)

I think it really benefits the student to get the rejection early enough in the process to adjust the list of schools...I think being deferred is tough, because that hope still lives.

Yup, I was thinking that being deferred would be the worst case scenerio, and it happened! Now I have to wait all the way into April for a definite decision. :0
