Interesting that in 139 posts, you’ve never once mentioned applying to or getting accepted to Middlebury. Curious indeed.

Accepted with Benton and tons of grant money. Totally shocked.
Stats:
SAT1: 670cr 710m 720w 1 sitting
SAT2: 740lit 750math1
Home educated for all 18 years with classes at community college junior/senior year.
3.94 High school and 3.97 College GPAs both unweighted
TONS of music ECs, concert master, orchestra, bands, lots of benefit shows, etc. The dean’s handwritten notes were about the music.
Other Volunteer/EC . Don’t want to list them all right now- very good, but not up to par with many of the people on this forum
2 Amazing and 1 good letter of req.
Essay was the best thing I’ve written in my life. Totally “me.” Subject was about music. Supplement essay was about astronomy program.

WELL DONE!

Accepted from Miami Florida!
3.52 GPA
720 Math, 710 CR, 690 Writing
Hispanic varsity soccer and tennis player. Could not be happier!!!

Should I be worried lol? I’m in Minnesota and I have not received anything while people in Florida and CA are getting their letters.

Accepted but financial Rejection. This kind of hurts. Especially with the hand-written note. But I’ll attend elsewhere because we simply can’t afford 52k a year.
So one spot is becoming free again!

This year will be a huge year for waitlists I think. Way too many people applying to way too many colleges. -> yield rates go down and more people get accepted off waitlists.

**Accepted RD **

General comments/advice/hindsight:

Accepted as an Alumni memorial scholar.
4.0 unweighted gpa, 4.77 weighted
35 ACT
great recs, etc.

For all those who were accepted, did the message on your portal change?

Am I to assume that if my portal still says “The Colgate Office of Admission appreciates the contact we have had with you through your college search…” that I will be rejected/waitlisted? I live in California and have not gotten any mail.

Accepted.
3.9 UW GPA, 4.3W
2160 SAT (1510/1600)
Strong ECs, Essay, Recs

@lastonefastone Hilarious stats post, lol. And @sincerelyms I’m in California too, mail has yet to come. My heart drops to my stomach when I check the mailbox. :o

And @lastonefastone my school is ghetto also, but actually in the ghetto–well I guess I could say that. And relatively poor, the median income of our student body is probably around 29,000.

Rejected, oh the sadness.

I feel your pain lol. Waitlisted

Decision: Waitlisted

Other
State (if domestic applicant): CA
Country (if international applicant):
School Type: Public

Income Bracket: Low enough I receive gov’t assistance. EFC = 0.
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): Absolutely nothing (overrepresented race from an overrepresented state), except for the fact that I live with my grandmother and brother in a cramped apartment complex. My Korean grades were explained and I had to go through hell to catch up with my classmates because I was placed in regular courses Freshman year (they counted my middle school Korean courses towards my GPA but they decided that I couldn’t use them as prerequistes. Oh well)

Reflection
Strengths: Stats. Self-studied most AP’s, good scores on SAT II’s, SAT, and ACT.
Weaknesses: GPA with my out-of-country grades. I put like 2, 3 paragraphs explaining it but I don’t think colleges quite got the message.
