Regular admission/MT program correspondence?

I know I just posted this on another thread, but does anybody know if getting into the MT program and the regular school are completely different? I got a letter from CMU admissions yesterday saying they’ve reviewed my application and were “anxious” to respond to me but I’ve forgotten to send in my school report. (Ooopsiez. But, I’m a transfer and the school report wouldn’t really give much info. It’s mostly indicating where I stand in my class and I you can’t really do that as a transfer.) CMU was always a super reach for me but I thought my audition went very well! I wasn’t expecting much, but now I’m kind of like “Anxious to respond…whaaaat?!?” I figure they wouldn’t be “anxious” to respond if they didn’t want to admit me. I know some colleges accept you into the regular school and then you have to wait to hear from MT (Like Pace, who gave me a 20k scholarship but then no phonecall. Pewp.) Does anyone know CMU’s correspondence?

I’m a transfer with an 3.84 gpa. I know that if CMU wants you, your grades don’t matter (for the most part) but I’m wondering if this is just the regular school looking at my app, because I’ve read somewhere that CMU doesn’t even look at your app unless the drama dept is interested in you or asks for it. Thoughts, anyone?

Alli, I wouldn’t read too much into this. My guess is that they just can’t give you ANY answer unless they have a complete application. I would call them tomorrow and get it straightened out.

The word “anxious” is curious. I’d be excited too, but wouldn’t uncork the champagne. Might be a good idea to make a phone call and ask a cautious question like “Should I send this by express mail?” If they say yes, still don’t uncork the champagne, but maybe you could take the foil wrapping off of the cork.

@prodesse that’s what I thought too. I’m not getting my hopes up, and ultimately am still waiting for a phone call, but for them to have them send me a letter with this sense of urgency just to not admit me feels a tiny bit ridiculous. Hahaha. I just hope that if they ARE considering me, my phone call won’t be delayed because of some silly school report. :/

I agree with Calliene in not reading too much into it. The word “anxious” IS interesting- but their admissions department would likely be anxious to give a 3.84 transfer student an academic acceptance answer. The drama department at CMU probably doesn’t have much of a hand in sending this letter. A call to the school may be a good idea to determine whether the drama dept. is able to make an admissions decision without your school report. As the phone calls will likely go out before the school report would physically reach them, asking that question will let you know: if you get a phone call that you need to hurry up and send it, or if you don’t get a phone call, it could possibly because they don’t have everything they need or not. In any event, my fingers will be crossed for you! Best of luck.

I also received the same letter yesterday. Also applying as a transfer for MT. Hopefully Drama decisions will be able to be concluded without said missing forms. They think they’re “anxious”…hahaha.

Best of luck Alli, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out.

My son got a similar message saying they were still missing his SAT score. They had his ACT score. When I called to follow up, I found out my son had told them them in the application he had taken the SAT. Once they knew that, they had to have the score even though they don’t require both. We rushed it there. That was two weeks ago. We thought it was gumming up up the works. Haha. Who knows. We are so jumpy.
