I'm going to be a senior next year and I'm debating of taking either regular calculus or AP calc. AB. How much harder typically is ap calculus than regular? I'm taking 3 other AP classes
(English Lang, Government and Spanish Lang.) next year and I do not want a whole bunch of work in addition to all my other classes.

Any suggestions/ advice is greatly appreciated.

Definitely do Calc AB. Pretty much everyone I know who takes regular calc wiches they had taken AB.

AP Calculus isn’t harder, just quicker. You cover more topics than CP Calculus. It’s a fairly easy class.

You should do AP. I can’t imagine taking a regular calculus class… I think it’d be dead boring.

Calculus is calculus…I’ll leave it at that.

AP Calc AB is like first semester of college calc? What would regular calc be? the first 6 weeks?

Calculus was the only math course I liked. I love Calculus. (Maybe because I took BC, and at my school that means AB and BC all in one. Pretty fast-paced, I suppose. I liked it)

If you take Calc AB you go into calc II in college and if you take BC you go into calc III, I believe? Anyone know?

Anyway… my school only offers AP calc. But if you’re struggling in math, go ahead and take regular calc, if not take AP, I am sure it is only a little bit faster, not neccesarilly “harder”.

Definitely, definitely do AB. Calculus is surprisingly easy, I found pre-calc to be harder mostly because of the myriad of topics you need to cover. And AB is faster and you get integrals and the fundamental theorem (which is really important, obviously). I have to rant about something. There are a group of about four students in my school who are taking regular calc junior year…and AP Calc AB senior year. I just can’t understand why anyone would do that. I mean they’ll already have half the damn material when they start. Do they only care about grades? Are they scared of frickin HS math class? This seriously ****es me off to no end and I don’t even know why.

I took Calc BC and am skipping Calc III to go to Multivariable Calculus. I think it depends on the college though - I’m at Vanderbilt.

Calculus AB isn’t hard at all…just make sure after you learn the material, look at how it is going to be presented to you on the AP exam throughout the year (on the test they do funky ****)
