Was deferred EA, felt this would be good for when the RD’s come out and any questions…
I have a question about the decision making process, do you think that they review your application holistically and then put you in the y/n/waitlist category afterwards or do you think that they wait until they review all of the applications before making any decisions?
Each reader takes notes as they read and makes a recommendation to offer, waitlist, or deny before we close the file. We don’t always agree, which can prompt discussion. Files get read over and over, so I might open a file that I thought wasn’t strong enough for an offer two weeks ago, but more familiarity with the pool might have changed my mind.
@“Dean J” Thanks for the response!
Hi @“Dean J” ! I have applying RD, and I am wondering if there is a major difference in acceptance rates for applicants who applied EA versus RD? Good luck on application reading. I’m looking forward to hearing back from you!
Common app says UVA downloaded the Mid-year report today but it shows I still have to submit it on my UVA login portal! Anyone else have this issue?
Stay strong, study, don’t stress too much. Enjoy the remainder of senior year. Just a few more weeks until we hear.
Hi, how do arts’ resumes figure in for oos applicants? It would seem that you would want a talented and regionally diverse group to represent UVA’s music and theater departments and enhance attendance and a
Add freshness to the department. Also, when are decisions released ? Thank you.
Here are previous release dates and times:
2015: Friday, March 20th @5:00 pm
2014: Friday, March 21st @5:00 pm
2013: Thursday, March 21st @1:00 pm
As long as the trend from the past two years continues, I see decisions being released on Friday, March 18th at 5:00.
Also, I went on the UVA SIS portal today and saw that, under the admissions tab, there was a “view decision” link. When I clicked on it, it said that decisions would be ready later and that I should check back on April 1st. However, the tab on my computer screen was titled “accept admission.” Does everybody else have this?
@markcal22 I do! Hopefully, it’s a good sign!
@markcal22 @reachschools Same. I don’t know if it means anything
@SnapApp @reachschools Yeah, I assumed it didn’t.
@markcal22 As a deferred early action applicant who had the same tab prior to decisions release, it isn’t a good sign unfortunately (not a bad sign either!) It’s simply a bug in their system from what I’ve heard. Good luck!
Folks, it’s February. Decisions are still a ways off.
The “View Decision” thing has been addressed a lot. If you google it, you’ll find several blog posts from over the years about this.
Good luck to all! I came here to freak out with you all about the “Accept Admission” tab, but I see that excitement has already been calmed down.
Hi everyone! Now that it’s March, does anyone have a better idea of when results will be coming back? And if they come by mail, email or on the portal?
Last year, I believe they were released via portal on March 20.
@whitespace I remember you from the Jefferson Scholars page. Didn’t you say you were withdrawing your application? Just curious btw, not trying to attack you or anything haha!
