Regular Decision Admissions notification

Does anyone know when they begin notifying Regular Decision candidates?

Is it rolling?

Last year it was some time in March.
American University does not have rolling admissions.
However, you can sometimes get a “sign” from your regional admissions counselor if you develop a relationship.

Did you develop the relationship by phone or email?

My son applied ED but had developed his relationship with his regional admissions rep both in person (he interviewed with him at his hotel lobby individually) when he was in our home town, and he followed up with email correspondence relating to specific questions that he had. He did not do this just to develop a relationship; and he did not ask questions that could be answered by using the AU website. To ask questions easily answered by checking info on the website leaves a bad impression of the applicant.

His friend from another high school who applied RD did the same kind of thing, and when he emailed his rep to ask whether changing the level of a class on his schedule for his last semester would hurt his chances he reports that he was told " not to worry about anything from this point on" eg., a sign.

I’m not sure all admissions reps would do this but it was nice that this one did.

My son took a tour of AU and we left our email address. When the regional admissions counselor was going to be in the area, she emailed him. Even though at the time, he had no real interest in AU, he met her in a local Panera one evening. When he told her his ACT scores and GPA, she told him that he would probably qualify for a scholarship if what he said was true.

He did get the scholarship and is now a happy freshman at AU
