The deadline in a few days time. This is a space where you can share your views or posts...

My application is in =) I just don’t want to wait 4 more months for a reply!

i’m applying

i applied! :)

I applied too!
I’m from Wisconsin.
UW GPA- 3.98
ACT- 31
Etc.

Hoping to study international relations and Spanish.

Are you guys feeling confident?
Is Carleton your top choice?

I’m fairly sure that I’ll be rejected. So I’m trying not to get too attached!
Which is hard, as Carleton is fantastic!

I applied. I’m from Pennsylvania. Carleton isn’t my top choice, but it’s up there :)

Applied, and the wait is killing me. Pretty sure I’ll be admitted: 35, 4.7, 11 APs, Natl Merit etc…but MONEY worries!!! The fin aid calculator doesn’t show me what we need. Parents want me to go to an Ivy, but Carleton is number 1 for me.

carleton isn’t my top choice either but i do like it. planning on majoring in international relations & russian.

Since being rejected EDII from Swarthmore, Carleton has been my top choice. I am nervous I won’t get in but am really hopeful that I will.

Has Carleton sent any admission letters yet to regular decision applicants? Have you heard? I have heard from several already (that are not supposed to tell you til April 1).

From what I’ve read about previous years, the first acceptances start arriving March 25, with April1 generally being the last day they come in (about).
I wish they would send them sooner though, I’m gonna be anxious all month! haha

Thank you CesVar for sharing that! I was wondering about a window instead of the standard ‘‘by April 15’’ answer.

Thanks. I wish they’d send them earlier. Carleton is my number 1, but I have already gotten “likely letters” from Columbia, Dartmouth, and Brown --parents are leaning on me for the Ivys…Sounds nutty, right–“don’t make me go to an Ivy!” Where are you Carleton?

Has anyone heard from Carleton RD yet???

My kid has not heard yet from Carleton. And, by the way, Dasher, I don’t find your outlook to be"nutty" in the slightest. Years ago, I chose Carleton over both Dartmouth and Amherst. I TRIED to get my oldest to choose Carleton over Princeton, and it WAS higher on his list than was Brown. In the end, his decision was complicated, but he always thought of Carleton with some regret, and has said more than once that he should have taken up that offer. Dasher: not “nutty” at all!

Good luck!

Thanks for the words of wisdom/advice/college choosing. I just wish they’d mail the acceptances and fin aid – the money is going to be an issue at home anyway. I just got a full ride (merit) from Vanderbilt…and three Ivy admits…Carleton is still #1.

dasher16, I have the opposite problem XD my dad has an anti-Ivy bias because he doesn’t want me to turn into a “snob…” and I really love Yale… haha. good luck to you, you definitely deserve to go to carleton and get an awesome education there! ahhh this whole thing is weird for me, because carleton is one of the couple schools I haven’t visited that I applied to. so I have no concept of whether or not I really love it or if it just looks amazing on paper…

Well, I visited LOTS of the top liberal arts, Ivys and major univs and Carleton struck me as best. It was just the feel of the place. I like what I read about Williams but the feel was sort of NE preppy; Carleton felt more laid back. After sorting out the best, you visit, and I think you have to go with the “gut” feeling you get from a place. Now, if they’d just send me a fat envelope.

Be on the lookout. My friend at the admissions office just posted this pic on his wall.
