Are letters coming to the West Coast via FedEx?

I missed a FedEx 2Day Envelope. I looked it up in FedEx's website. It was shipped on the 25th from Oriskany, NY. Oriskany isn't that close to Hamilton, so maybe it's just wishful thinking, but I'm hoping its an acceptance letter. The package supposedly weighs 1 lb.

i'm in! :]
this made me happy, especially after my rejection from northwestern yesterday :(. i'm still waiting to hear from other colleges but yayyyyyyy

Accepted from MA! :) The 50k cost is a little daunting but who cares, I'm in!!!! Even if I don't end up going there at least I know that I could have :p.

ACCEPTED!!! From Virginia here! I was also selected as a Benton Scholar; don't know much about it, but apparently it's only in its second year...so...I'm VERY excited :) so good to be a lucky #13 :)

RE: FedEx - they very rarely send things FedEx - it's almost always regular first class mail through the post office. They may send it FedEx if you live in a rural area with irregular mail, but the huge majority of people do not get FedEx in the US. Acceptances, rejections and waitlist letters are all sent at the same time and arrive the same time regardless of what they are, so that's no indication of your status. For internationals, just because someone in a neighboring country got theirs doesn't mean you're rejected either - don't forget that different mail systems, different flight schedules and different customs for mail going between the US and other countries can make a big difference.

The 1.0 lb FedEx package is just an envelope - that's the minimum weight you can put and FedEx requires a weight (I send these all the time at work).

Also, for people who live near others that have gotten them, just think about how many letters they have to send (around 8000+), so a smaller post office has to deal with all of those... they probably don't all end up going out on the same truck, or even leave the same day from each post office along the way, so it's nothing to do with your status, just the inconsistencies of our postal system.

OMG.. i just remembered that there was a FED EX thing taped to the front door this afternoon. FoRGOT ALL about it until I just read above post. AHHHHH...Now I need to run to fed ex as soon as i can figure out where the heck it is!

Son is sleeping. He twisted knee at Lax practice and will miss playing in scrimmage tomorrow as captain. He was SO bummed.

While Colgate may not usually send things via FedEx, I think there's a good chance it still could be a decision from them. It would be rather coincidental if all of us who applied to Colgate got a FedEx receipt on the same day and it happened to be for something completely unrelated.

I've never had a more anticipatory drive in my life -- and that includes the drive to the hospital to give birth to this same child!!!!

It was so much fun.. walked into his room (sleeping see above) and asked why he wasn't icing his knee and he said it got too cold and wanted to take a nap. He said, I am so tired. And I said.. too tired to open this huge envelope? And I never saw him wake up and sit up so fast in my life!!!! What a nice smile he has -- grinned ear to ear.

And then said.. "now that's the way to wake up!"

ACCEPTED.... in DC..international student ... family contribution 10k
iam happy.. cuz i have been getting rejection letter all day.. even with the economcis downturn, Colgate is still devoted to funding for internationals
I am grateful

Congratulations Modadunn (and son!) I'm sure I'm not the only CC mom happy to see the good news for your son. I'm especially glad the first acceptance is from Colgate (and hope he enjoyed Gary Ross' note).

Yes!! Really nice note. Seriously though.. the man has beautiful handwriting, which actually made me look twice to see if it was a special font of some kind. But LOVED the personal touch and makes it seem like they really took the time to "read" him.

I didn't realize how much I was holding my breath these days until now when I can finally breath knowing that whatever else happens, he'd be thrilled to go to Colgate. Plus.. you gotta admit that the class of 2013 thing is pretty cool.

Gary Ross is a great representative of Colgate - he does really know the applicants. I think the personal touch is a real indication of what the Colgate experience can be like for students, too. Congrats!!
