Anyone know when Tisch will release their acceptances/rejections/(wait-lists if applicable?) ? I know April 1st is the hard decision deadline, but I am not sure if people from earlier years have heard anything earlier. Please share. Thanks
April 1st for sure this year!
On the NYU admissions page it says the following:
Regular Decision Applicants:
Decisions will be released via email on March 31. Keep an eye on your inbox!
UPDATE: I received an email in my regular inbox stating that NYU decisions (artistic AND academic) will be released tomorrow- Thursday, March 31st 2016 via email. If you do not have access to your regular email, you will be able to receive your decision through portal or by calling admissions starting April 4th. BAL to all!
Any idea of time? I assumed it was midnight, but was wrong.
@LIttleEdy I assume it will be before 5pm since their admissions offices close then, but who knows. BAL!
From the NYU Admissions Blog:
“Decisions will be released in waves over the course of the day to minimize disruption to most (not all) school day time zones, meaning decisions will be released into the late evening hours and possibly into the early morning hours of April 1. We will make decisions available online through our NYU Albert student information system on Monday, April 4, or you can call us by phone on Monday and we will release your decision then.”
Received email. Wait listed.
My daughter too. Anyone know likelihood of acceptance?
Wish we had some clue as to how many get waitlisted and how many typically come off the list.
Above, plus wish I knew any chance of merit $…
@Guppie - NYU does very little merit $$ - it is primarily need based. And according to FAFSA - I have no need …
That’s what I thought, Thx. We knew going in we woould not qualify for need based aid and wouldn’t spend that much $ for an undergrad. D wanted to try for a possible bragging right Glad that we are not waiting for any waitlist decision. That must be hard. Good luck to those who are making a final decision with waitlists on their plate
The financial aid, while not given out to all or considered generous overall, is not entirely based on need. Yes, need is a factor. But with aid that is solely 100% based on need, the amount would change each of the four years while in college based on a new FAFSA every year that is submitted. My kid went to NYU/Tisch and was awarded a scholarship that was generous and it was for all four years. It did not vary in amount each year based on need. The scholarship/grant was the same amount guaranteed each year of college. She did qualify for need as well, given that we had two kids in college. In her senior year at Tisch, she was awarded three additional named scholarships that year, that were smaller. So, just saying, one can’t count on this, but it does exist at this school.
Thx for sharing the above info. Just like any other schools, they will give merit $ to the students they want.
I just will add to the comment above that I believe anyone the school accepts is someone they really want.
@soozievt - I believe the program your D was part (Tisch scholars?) no longer exists, is that correct? Not sure how those funds are allocated these days - but that isn’t something a student auditioning this year should look for.
@Guppie- 2 years ago my D got her financial package the same day as her admittance. So at least they don’t make you wait.
@toowonderful…My D was a Tisch Scholar, yes, and that program no longer exists, BUT that program had NOTHING to do with any scholarship money. It was a selective thing unrelated to money. She did get to go on two free trips with Tisch Scholars, including one to Brazil. There were approximately 15 students per year in ALL of Tisch (not just Drama) selected to participate in Tisch Scholars.
The scholarship my kid got for all four years at Tisch was called a Trustee Scholarship. That was a significant amount of money as a grant for all four years of college. In senior year, she was given three smaller additional scholarships, that all had a name after specific people.
When my D applied, we knew nothing about Tisch Scholars (again not a scholarship) and nothing about the Trustee Scholarship. She got a letter about the financial aid with the scholarship, and my eyes popped out of my head. A different letter/packet arrived about being selected to be in Tisch Scholars, which was an honor.
@soozievt - sorry, got mixed up
