Regular Decision Applicants

And that’s Boston “University” I am a terrible typist!

Just got my letter today. 2110 SAT, 32 ACT, and WAITLISTED. Guess I shouldn’t have written that essay on why I liked President Nixon after all. I wasn’t crazy about AU, but I’m not accepting a place on the list now. No way.

@socold im also waitin to here from gw and nyu!!!

I live in southeastern Pennsylvania, by the way.

Yes, manseso, my son in LA area got an acceptance letter on Friday.

Still nothing in the mail today from AU - a little strange since we are on the same coast.

Why can’t AU just give decisions online like everyone else does and save people a lot of stress?

My D got today (in CT) for Spring '15 with acceptance into Washington Mentorship Program for fall. Only offered loans, not what we expected from a private school. This will be coming off our list soon!

I’m surprised at how many people are discontent with the FA American has to offer - my package was incredible.

I’ve been accepted to Pace, Drexel, Hofstra, Clarkson, Susquehanna, BU, and now American, and so far, American is tied with Clarkson for financial aid, and higher than all of the rest.

(I received $20,000 in merit and $21,200 in an AU grant.)

Good luck to everyone else waiting on their packages.

@PhillyStardust - I hope you call their Admissions office, that is just CRazy!

@azacious They seemed to be very erratic with their acceptances this year, I can’t really figure out what they were looking for.

Anyway, I got my acceptance letter finally!

Invited to the University College program + $20,000 in need based aid

LOL about all the financial aid talk. I got 1/3 of the aid from AU VS my other acceptances. They must be looking for full pays?

My son just got offered the Spring 2015 admission with Washington Mentorship Program this Fall. Hmmm. Not what he had in mind. 1990 SAT, top-notch private school, 3.67 GPA. No $$ offered for the WMP program. Actually looks intriguing in the brochure … but he’s already admitted outright at some other places, so may just say no.

I though I’d demonstrated adequate interest in their Poli Sci program. HOW AM I NOT GOOD ENOUGH?

Phillystardust, I’m not even so much insulted as shell-shocked. We seem to have had very similar applications and I can honestly say that I was anticipating somewhere in the range of $20,000 in merit money as well as possible acceptance into the honors program (I applied). Same as you, I visited campus, met with my admissions rep at my school, and wrote all those honors essays so I assumed that was sufficient demonstrated interest. Again just don’t know what to think at all.

@PhillyStardust - It sounds like you’re an excellent student who has done all the right things. However, it’s hard to tell what specific things some colleges are looking for in any particular year. While my D fits American’s profile, I told her from the beginning that nothing is certain. This school in particular is all over the place with student stats. I’m sure you have many other excellent options with your stats. Good luck!

@PhillyStardust And all of the other waitlisted people - perhaps you are over qualified? I have seen people on this thread who have been accepted, with merit aid, but were rejected from some of the same colleges where my daughter was accepted and yet, we have not heard anything.

It also depends on the program to which you have applied - some are far more competitive than others. My son was rejected from an engineering program at a competitive school, but my daughter was accepted for journalism with similar stats at the same university.
