Regular Decision Application Decision Date Released

This notice is from Stanford's Admission website.

Update: Regular Decision Application Decisions
March 13, 2012

We are still on schedule to release all freshman admission decisions by Sunday, April 1 after 3pm (Pacific Time). All admission decisions will be sent via email from admission@stanford.edu and will be signed by Richard Shaw, Dean of Undergraduate Admission and Financial Aid. Decisions will not be posted on any Stanford website and only applicants offered admission will be sent any information by mail. Admitted students will be mailed a packet of materials (including their official offer of admission letter). All other decisions will be sent to students via email — including those students offered a space on our waiting list. All admission decisions will be final and given the highly selective nature of our process, we cannot consider any appeals whatsoever. We never, ever reverse an admission decision once it has been officially rendered.

Admission News : Stanford University

Man this almost gave me a heart attack because I thought there was a more recent notification. I don’t think that is necessarily the date because it says by April 1st

I agree with swimfreak, I think this is their way of saying “we’re not running behind this year.”

A lot of people are saying that Stanford likes to release them earlier if possible so I guess we’ll just find out.

That is worded so poorly, it only serves to confuse all of us even more.

So, does that mean that all accepted can party, party for the rest of the semester without fear of having their admission rescinded? :-)

If it says by April 1st, after 3 pm, does that mean on april 1st after 3pm? Or another day??

It’s probably earlier based on previous years’ dates. April 1st is just the last possible day that they would send out decisions by, but it doesn’t seem likely that they’ll wait that long.

A Stanford sophomore on reddit said that Stanford usually releases the Friday before the admit date, at 5ET, to avoid phone calls regarding admissions.

I’d be willing to be he’s right, that the release is going to be Friday, since it seems odd that Stanford’s going to be the odd one out releasing on April 1, which is a Sunday nonetheless

RX for inbox anxiety. Apply to receive the Stanford daily newsletter. Then you will get an email from Stanford every day and you won’t freak when you see the “it” email there for real. Your heart will just beat a little faster before you click. And, you can keep up on all the Stanford news.

I think its most likely that RD decisions will be released on the 29th. So everyone can relax for the day - at least about Stanford. You are free to continue to stress about all the other ones you’re waiting for!

Hi guys,

I heard from a legacy student who received some advance notification or letter (not sure of what nature, apparently not a likely letter) via a mutual friend that Stanford is coming out on Friday, March 30th.

Damn… was hoping to get my bad news first >.<.

Mark it here - the 29th…

or maybe the 30th.
