[] Strengths: There were no flaws in my application other than my SAT I CR score. I focused on presenting myself as an interesting person, rather than as a smart student.
[] Weaknesses: Stupid SAT…

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: not sure, I wondered why I wasn’t offered an interview…I never visited the school-or even the state- but I like what I saw offered on the website. Perhaps I didn’t brag enough, or personalize enough…

I cannot log in the decision notification page of Middlebury.

I typed my user name and password, but web page says, “Invalid Login, Please Try Again”.

How should I do?

Rejected…lol … TO DUKE !!! :D

miyasuke0216,

I don’t know what to say…call Monday? Try copying and pasting the username and password. Use the link they provide in the email. If that doesn’t work, check your caps lock, etc…

bsalum,

I went to web site of middlebury and typed my username and password exactly, but I could not get in, so that I went notification page directly from the link, which was sent by e-mail, as you said, but un that case, web page says, “404 - Path Not Found”

Pick one:
Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:[ul]
[] ACT: 32 (36 E, 26 M, 31 S, 33 R, 8 W; one sitting)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 11/400
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): Environmental Science(5), English Lang(5), US History(4)
[] Senior Year Course Load: Precalculus, AP Psych, Band, AP Lit, Forensic science, creative writing, AP Spanish
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): none

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): marching band (clarinet section leader), pep band, symphony orchestra, spanish club (historian), teen volunteer group at library (secretary), art club, french club, asian culture club, national honor society
[] Job/Work Experience: Math tutor(although I don’t think I put this on the app?), babysitter
[] Volunteer/Community service: Spanish tutoring, national honor society (over 60 hours of miscellaneous volunteering)
[] Essays: I thought my common app essay was really good, but I do wish that this app had a supplement…I feel like my supplement for Barnard, where I was accepted, helped a lot with my application because it showed my interest/passion for the school!
[] Teacher Recommendation: One from my english teacher (great), one from my spanish teacher (good)
[] Counselor Rec: I got a new counselor last year, so she doesn’t really know me, but I’m sure it was well-written enough and very positive.
[] Interview: So. I didn’t exactly have an interview even though I was offered one. My interviewer and I had a combination of scheduling conflicts (both my fault and his!) and communication problems. We were supposed to have an interview on a Thursday, and he canceled on me at the last minute, and then the following weekend I was out of town, and then my phone died and I couldn’t receive his calls. When I finally received his messages, I called him back and then he never returned my calls!! AND it didn’t help that he only contacted me approximately a week before the deadline…!
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
[] Intended Major: Environmental science
[] State (if domestic applicant): MI
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Female
[] Income Bracket: 60-70k
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): None
[/ul]Reflection
[] Strengths: Essays, GPA
[] Weaknesses: No hooks, no major awards, and possibly it seemed like I wasn’t all that interested in the school because 1) I never visited and 2) I never actually had an interview
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: See weaknesses?

Accepted!!!

Asian female with a 2360 SAT, 3.83 GPA, 8 APs (seven 5s, one 4), mediocre ECs, a lot of interest in Spanish language, decent essay, and NIGHTMARE interview (I went to the wrong coffee shop, realized this 20 minutes afterwards, was in tears when I showed up, and answered a lot of the questions with, “Um… I don’t know…” Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong went wrong.)

Also accepted to Dartmouth, UChicago, Georgetown SFS, UVa, American, and my two in-state safeties. Waitlisted at Stanford and rejected at Cornell.

CON GANAS DE EMPEZAR LA U!!!

For the waitlisters: my S was in your position 3 years ago. he is now a Feb Junior at Midd.

Why you were waitlisted: too many qualified applicants, bad luck, and someone else has a similar story to yours with similar stats and maybe something extra. You ABSOLUTELY are qualified if you are on the list, just not lucky.
What you should do: show the love. It’s too early to tell how many , if any will come off. If you have ANY personal connection to Midd, use it.
Get an alum to write a letter why they will be foolish not to accept you.
Have your school guidance counselor call admissions next week and ask if there were any deficiencies in your application, express your deep sincere desire to go to Midd if accepted, and offer to send anything lacking.
YOU YOURSELF not your mother should also call the admissions office and ask the same questions, expressing the same interest. Also send a supplementary packet-not too long but with a cover letter expressing your regret and conviction that Midd needs you, any new transcript with great grades, that 32 ACT you didn’t send, any award-winning columns you have written or art project you did and maybe one more letter. It shouldn’t be TOO LONG or redundant, but if there is something new you should include it.
If you said you wouldn’t be a Feb, now is the time to change your mind.

Hang in there! If you have another acceptance and would be happy there, turn in the card that says “no thank you” as soon as possible, and give someone else a break.
Remember Midd isn’t the only good school in the world and try to put this into
perspective.

You are qualified, just not lucky.

^well said. cheers!

Not sure how to upload the template but rejected.

GPA: 4.0/4.0 (4.78 weighted; I’ve never gotten a B)
Class rank: 3rd in class of 653 (may end up graduating as Salutatorian)
Course load: will graduate with 9 AP classes; don’t want to list them all but among them AP Calculus BC, AP Spanish Language, AP World History, and AP Bio
Extracurriculars: Spanish Governor’s School, Opinion Editor of school newspaper, Key Club (officer in 10th grade), and National Honor Society
SAT I: 720 (Reading), 680 (Math), and 740 (Writing) (2140 total)
SAT II: 800 Biology, 730 World History, and 730 Spanish
AP Scores: one 3 and three 5’s
Recs: waived my rights but I read one and it was great; and my counselor loves me (and I love her-- she’s wonderful, just a side note lol)
Interview: I really thought it went great-- my interviewer was a journalist and I gave him some of my articles.
Essays: hard to rate my own essays but I love to write and I’m good at it
Awards: National Merit Commendation, AP Scholar with Honor

Reflection
Strengths: GPA, class rank, course load, Spanish Gov School (10% acceptance rate), interview, National Merit
Weaknesses: SAT could have been higher I guess, and I’m sure being a white girl from NOVA really helped

I’m looking at this with the new perspective a whole hour can bring-- I think this is the best thing that could have happened because it made me realize that UVA is the right school for me. UVA ECHOLS 2016!!! Congrats to everyone who got in Middlebury-- you guys have a great option. I hope those who, like me, didn’t get in can get excited about being part of the class of 2016 at other great schools!

[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: SATs, extracurriculars
[] Weaknesses: essays, lack of focus/awards/great achievement in a single area
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I got admitted as a feb, and I don’t want to be one… so I’m honestly not sure why they did that. I may not be able to go because of it :([/li][/ul]General Comments:
The entire procces of college admissions has made me realize that is really is what you do, not the college. I have seen so many amazing applicants be rejected, and so many unworthy legacies get in instead. If you got rejected/waitlisted don’t worry too much, it just means you are too awesome/cool/superamazing for them ;)

also I’m brand new on here… but I’ve been going on CC for a couple yrs now and just never got around to creating an account of my own… so thank you in general to everyone on here, it’s really helped me A LOT, and I wish now that I had gotten on sooner… CC people are pretty awesome… :)

Decision: Accepted

Objective:[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): did not submit
[] ACT: 34 – (36 E, 34 M, 34 R, 31 S)
[] SAT II (if submitted):
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.84
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): school does not rank
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): English Language (5) and Comparative Gov (3)
[] IB (place score in parenthesis):
[] Senior Year Course Load: 6 APs in total
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): none
[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Orchestra, cross country (senior captain), track (senior captain), student council (junior year president), conservation club
[] Job/Work Experience: Have worked since end of junior year as a busboy
[] Volunteer/Community service: Founded a nonprofit at my school benefitting children in Zimbabwe, have spearheaded two mission trips and led groups to raise ~$35,000 over tr last two years. This is my biggest EC.
[] Essays: Good but not strong, I would say. I wrote about my condemnation of cultural and religious bigotry, relating it to my personal growth through my relationship with my Iraqi stepbrother.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Did not see either, but both of them are some of my favorite teachers, and they will probably strong.
[] Counselor Rec: Probably pretty generic even though we have a good relationship; she has a lot of students to take care of.
[] Additional Rec: Had a recommendation from a congressman in my state, not sure how much that helped.
[] Interview: Was not offered
[/ul]Other[ul]
[] Applied for Financial Aid?: No
[] Intended Major: Linguistics and/or Literature
[] State (if domestic applicant): Midwest
[] Country (if international applicant):
[] School Type: Private catholic
[] Ethnicity: White
[] Gender: Male
[] Income Bracket: upper (did not apply for FA)
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, research, etc.): None that I know of
[/ul]Reflection
[] Strengths: Probably test scores, strong ECs that showed I am a hard worker and not just a good test taker
[] Weaknesses: A dearth of APs taken before senior year (compared to most applicants I have seen on CC), a poorly-executed essay (I think)
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: It’s tough to have a lot of individual sway on Middlebury when you apply, and I think Midd does this for a reason. I had no interview and with virtually no supplement, I had to rely on the raw student I was to get the admissions officers to find something special in me. Im still not sure if I’m going to end up at Middlebury…right now it is my first choice but tied with Georgetown, so I’m going to have to take my time to make the right decision.
[/li]

For those rejected/waitlisted: stay hopeful! You are still exceptional students ( trust me, you are; let’s be honest, the only students that care enough to be on this site are college-obsessed, overachieving perfectionists  ). Wherever you end up, you are bound for success. For those accepted…there’s a pretty good chance I’ll be seeing you on campus this fall. Midd 2016!!

p.s. I was:
