Regular decision dilemma

My son applied regular decision and I think that was a mistake. I seem to be finding out that he likely won't receive a decision until April? Is that true? How can a university make a student wait that long if they're already hearing back from other schools (regular decision) by November or December? He was reluctant to apply ED to any school because many of them are restrictive and he doesn't have a first choice. He's already been accepted to a few other schools, so he's impatiently awaiting Syracuse.

It is true that regular admission decisions come out around April 1 for many colleges. Perhaps the schools he has heard from offer rolling admissions?

November/December decisions are either early action (nonbinding) or early deciscion (binding). I don’t believe that many schools have rolling admissions.

It is typical for students receiving decisions in March. this allows college to consider first semester senior year grades.

Relax CareerMom, your kid wont be picking a college (unless other wise required to do so in an early acceptance letter) until April/May. He will hear sometime in March. It’s not a big deal, just make sure he keeps his grades up.
