I don’t think so phony. Duke has 14% cap on in-state enrollment, or something like that.

somebody call and see what they say

There is probably only one reason they’re doing that: to reduce the server load. If they progressively load decisions, or tell people to come at different times, their servers won’t crash. I think it’s pretty reasonable of them and it probably has nothing to do with your decision.

To fritz90: It’s not alphabetical, I got 7:00 and I’m last name S Email S

I do live in the west coast though, It seems people who are getting 6:00 live in the east coast. I see no realistic reason why Duke would reveal acceptances at a earlier time than rejections, especially if it is just an hour’s difference needless to say several days earlier.

central standard time zone here- 7pm
last name- J

i think bballdude is from michigan so let’s wait and see what his says

maybe there’s no pattern. or it could be anything… school, major, region, competitiveness, date of application submission, financial aid, etc

why does it matter guys?

so do you think they are uploading them at different times or just saying different times?

I still havent gotten an e-mail..should I call?

I think they are uploading them at different times. Many schools do it in batches.

I agree, we are just being paranoid.

Mine says 7 pm next tuesday the 25th. I am from MI (eastern time zone).

I don’t think they are uploading them at different times.

You guys just need to give it a rest. :o It’s really not that serious.

well im just curious if i should wait till 7 pm to check or if they are uploading them earlier

i’d say they’re just doing the same thing brown is. trying to prevent server crash, but being unsuccessful b/c we’ll all log on/refresh at the earliest time anyway

I’m going to log in at 5 P.M.(probably before that) and start refreshing the page every 5 sec anyway

Just a heads up, but I don’t know exaclty how their program is written and works. I know that my high school uses blackboard, a networking file share type thing, but that to get any new updates or additions to pages you have to log out and log back in. So you might have to log out and log back in to get your decision, but I might also be wrong.

Way too much obsessing - there’s a bunch of ways it could be done. The data will surely be uploaded before the first date/time they’ve given. Then they could:

restrict access for your login to be available the date/time they gave you
-have different db’s that will come online at the various times they said

do no restrictitions, and we’ll all hit the server simultaneously, causing massive failure

start enabling access in some random scheme I haven’t thought of.

etc. etc. etc.

Good luck to all

I still haven’t received an email yet. ]:
