Honors for ED students are just now being considered. I expect it may be a while more for RD students.

stats: 1450/2160

Also got acceptance package in the mail today and no mention of honors or scholarship.

1400/2070 SAT 102 weighted GPA

lol. you guys scare me with those SAT and GPAs. my school doesnt do unweighted GPA. only weighted. How do colleges go about that? recalculate?

It seems like every college has their own system for calculating GPA which accounts for honors and AP/IB/college classes.

@lilmelonred Don’t worry about what we’re posting lol. We only make up 3 out of how ever many thousand applicants. Average for RIT for Class of 2016 was 1790 SAT (590 reading, 630 math, 570 writing).

So far all engineering? Waiting with baited breath for art…

DS accepted to gaming program and he is pleased. Large envelope arrived today (sent 2/18). We did not get any emails or notices either about receivng his app. They were the only one we did not hear from. We sent an email on Tuesday about a curriculum change and they responded very quickly.

ACT 33
Grades 3.7ish

My S2 also accepted to gaming program today. He’s 2 for 2 now (also in at WPI) and very happy. Envelope sent by mail. He never used portal. No info on financial aid or merit awards yet.

SATII’s: Math2-720, Physics-750, French-670
ACT: 30
GPA uw: 3.84

My son was accepted into Molecular Bioscience & Biotechnology (though he’s seriously considering Bioinformatics now) on Thursday. Big orange envelope. Common app, got RIT to “hook” the app into portal, but all portal shows is that they’ve received all his “stuff”. The admissions counselor we met during a visit last week shook her head ruefully and acknowledged there’s a problem with portal/common-app integration.

SATs: 790 math, 620 reading, 650 writing
SAT II: Math Level 2 780, Chemistry 760
Weighted GPA: 4.0, Unweighted somewhere between 3.7 & 4.0

Waiting on scholarship info and hoping for an invite to the honors program.

Son received acceptance letter yesterday with nothing about merit. Does that come later? I sure hope so!

An RIT admissions officer told me that they review applications by major, so they do one major and then move on to the next. That’s why acceptances are staggered, and people hear at different times, among other reasons.

Page 50 on the RIT prospectus (http://www.rit.edu/upub/pdfs/Prospectus.pdf</a>) will tell you the average range of SAT scores of ACCEPTED students. The average scores of accepted students tends to be higher than those who enroll at almost every school, because the higher scorers are more likely to be using the school as a safety, or, perhaps, because they are getting more money from another school because of their strong academic performance. At RIT, 70% of the accepted students decide to go elsewhere, and probably a disproportionate percentage of these have above-midpoint scores on the SAT’s.

I wouldn’t hang my hat on this as a guarantee, but an admissions officer told my son that since he had scored at the 25th percentile for his major on the SAT and taking his GPA into account, that he was highly likely to get in. Bear in mind that these ranges are merely ranges; it doesn’t mean that if you’re below the 25th percentile, that you won’t get in, or that being at the 25th percentile (or the 50th percentile with a lousy GPA) makes you a lock.

Obviously, 25% of those accepted were below the 25th percentile.

Accepted for Computer Science, no mention of honors or merit aid.
