Regular Decision or Early decision for University of Maryland College Park?

have talk to many people and i am getting mixed results. Currently i have a 3.50 and if i do early decision, it can't go up but my sat score(which is horrible, 1300/2400) will look bad. I have taken extremely rigorous classes, A.P. Bio,A.P Calculus,A.P English/lit, A.P Psych, and all honors throughout high school. i haven't tooken the ACT but hopefully i would do better on that and i have excellent EC's(Extarciriculars) like Volunteering in hospital, library, etc. Nominated for awards like Who's Who Among highschool students, 400-500 community service hours, National honor society, many other clubs. Should have a great essay and great reccommendations. Also the chemathon at UMCP, just to name a few. Just wondering if i should apply early decision with some of the stats before you, i heard miniorty status counts and if you are in state. I want to ED because i really want to go to UMCP and i was wondering if i do apply ED to UMCP, do i have a good chance of getting in or could i just do RD and wait a semester to get my G.P.A up a little. do i have a good chance of getting in RD or ED, please tell me because i think my SAT scores are my downfall but i would like to know if ED and good essays, great EC's, volunteering, and other factors can kinda balance that horrible score. Thanks to anyone who replied.

Do some research. UMD doesn't do ED. For "priority," however, submit Part I of the app before November 1st and Part II before December 1st. It's far from ED, though, or even EA. I don't think it makes you part of a separate applicant pool, but it helps you a bit.
