Regular Decision Questions

Hello! I'm currently a junior and I'm thinking of applying to colleges next year through Questbridge. I'm not willing to apply through the college match early decision program because there are some other colleges that I feel are important to apply to early action. What I am wondering is if applying only regular decision negatively impacts your chances compared to being pushed through to RD after not being matched?

Also, if you apply regular decision only, are the applications still free? I tried to figure this out on their website but I found it to be very confusing.

Thanks!

Hi, enentropy! You don’t have to rank colleges when you apply to be a QuestBridge finalist. If you don’t, you won’t be matched, but you can use early decision or early action. Not ranking colleges won’t have any effect on your RD applications.

QB partners waive application fees for QB finalists, whether or not you rank colleges for the match. You can find on each college’s procedures on their individual Requirments pages.

Here’s the QuestBridge flowchart, which might be helpful as an overview of the process

[National College Match Flowchart](QuestBridge)

ok thanks that clears most of it up! Just like one more thing. If we don’t rank the colleges we are totally free to apply early action to whatever non QB colleges we want, correct?
Also are you saying that if a QB college has ED or EA, we are free to apply to select ones under that option?
Thanks so much for your help!

Most partner schools are binding, though some are not. If you become a finalist you can chose to only rank schools that are non-binding…

Okay like to put this really simply if I apply through Questbridge and never rank colleges, does that mean that I’m not binded to any college and am permitted to apply to other college (i.e. Tulane, Boston College, etc.) early action?

Yes, but you can also chose to rank non-binding colleges and participate in the match as well.

Oh okay thanks so much! Sorry, Idk why this is so confusing to me!
