S2 was waitlisted. Will take the letter’s advice and choose a different school!

S Accepted today (Saturday). We live in DC. Acceptance came in snail mail. He’s a legacy.

Accepted today from Mass!!! I had just gotten waitlisted from Midd, then the mail arrived! So so stoked!

Looks like a lot of people who are getting into Bowdoin are getting waitlisted by Middlebury. Interesting.

@ light - I REALLY hope that’s the case with me! xD

light10491 – I think the Ed I acceptance rate was about 36% and both Ed II and RD around 18%. This 2/5/10 article in the Bowdoin Orient says that about 900 of 5300 ED applicants will be admitted this year. [ED II, reg decision apps up, diversity also on the rise - The Bowdoin Orient](http://orient.bowdoin.edu/orient/article.php?date=2010-02-05§ion=1&id=2)

has anyone in california received the letter? i can’t wait…

I’m in SoCal too greentea, and I haven’t gotten any word yet from Bowdoin. How high up is Bowdoin on your list? I’d really like to go there, but it’s definitely a reach for me.

It does look like people getting rejected at Midd are getting into Bowdoin. However, I was waitlisted at both Midd and Bowdoin. And Amherst. And WUSTL. And others…

Doesn’t Middlebury accept 2 times as much students than Bowdoin? (due to its size). Then it’s natural to have more waitlists in Middlebury.

I’m an international resident from Chile, didn’t receive any emails yet.

jordanxbanker: after getting rejected from my first choices (amherst and swarthmore), bowdoin is my new #1. but it seems pretty umpromising… ahh im so depressed.

Bee123: i think we have a very similar college list!..haha I was rejected by Amherst, waitlisted at Midd and WashU, and am anxiously waiting for Bowdoin… Where else did you apply?

I know this is a very hard time for seniors was they are waiting for their results. Or receiving them.

You have to know, there is a great deal of serendipity in this whole process. That’s why the results can seem so strange – got in to more competitive school, rejected from less competitive school, or whatever.

Some of you will be rejected from your top schools, and end up lower down on your list. Several things to know: first, this is not a judgment of your skills, your intelligence or you as a person. When you have thousands of people going for hundreds of spots – and 95% of those people are in the same range of skills – the odds are against you everywhere. No matter your skills, no matter your success. Schools are looking for a student body of wide ranging backgrounds and talents. They’re not going to take all tuba players, or everyone from Idaho. So, if you were counting on your sculpting as pushing you over the top – but they already admitted two sculptors in ED – then it doesn’t help. So again – serendipity.

But I have one other thing to tell you: For most of you, your first choices are based on impressions – how you felt walking through the school, what the students you ran into were like, the cache of the school name, the US News ranking (which is really unimportant), reputation of a particular department. You will find, in the end, that NONE of this matters. All of these schools are the tops in the country. You WILL be happy, wherever you go – unless you don’t let yourself be happy because of grumpiness about your results. You WILL make good friends, you WILL get a top-notch education.

So, my bottom line: Feel good about yourself. You are among the smartest, most talented young people in this country. You are on your way to a great adventure. You will get a great education. And – thought it might be hard to accept this week – you will be happy.

Accepted in Texas on Saturday!!

Thanks a lot quicken. Your wisdom is greatly appreciated :)

I think to great extent U.S News is SUPER important. But anyway, that’s my opinion (And I don’t want to have a debate about this here)

Anyways, I haven’t received a decision yet, either mail or e-mail. I’m international, so hopefully Bowdoin will send an email tomorrow!

I’m so tempted to just call their office and cuss jamaican badword… xD hahaha just kidding

I applied ED to Bowdoin, got deferred, then rejected. But I got into Midd regular. And flat out rejected from Bates and Wesleyan, but got into Colby. The college process is blowing my mind, I won’t lie.

congrats to those who are accepted!
@jamiecago, i’m international as well and i haven’t heard back, mail or email.
hopefully we’ll both hear from Bowdoin soon! :)

jamiecago and sophistikate^^^

that’s very strange, i’ve received both email (friday bowdoin time) and fed ex package (sunday bowdoin time) and i am probably the admit living furthest away from campus in terms of distance.

best of luck and i hope you hear soon.
