Congratulations to all those admitted. Don't forget to use the Hopkins Forums to ask questions of current students. We created a special thread for the Class of 2011:
<a href="http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums%5B/url%5D">http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums</a></p>

To those offered a spot on the wait list - we have provided a lot of information on the wait list at Hopkins here:
<a href="http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums/index.php?showtopic=330%5B/url%5D">http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums/index.php?showtopic=330</a></p>

And to those not offered admission, my condolences. Please know that we struggle over every decision we make, and we just are unable to offer spots in the class to many qualified students each year. There is no doubt in my mind that there is a school out there for you and now is the time to seize your opportunities and make that choice.

S accepted - So happy!

General Comments/Congratulations/Venting/Commiserations,etc: congrats to everyone else who got accepted!

Congrats everyone! Seems like a lot of hard work is paying off!

I'm still confused though...I just didn't think a valedictorian with good test scores (2150/33) and in charge of 3 activities, not to mention numerous positions in other clubs/activities, 150 hours of community service, numerous state/local level awards wouldn't get into JHU. And I thought waitlisted at somewhere like Duke or deferred at Yale would give a good indication for admission at JHU. I do realize how competitive it is here, but it just feels like all my hard work has gone to waste. I only worked this hard, taking on multiple leadership positions, 7 AP's this year, and a bunch of other crap to get into super good schools. I didn't get in anywhere out of state, just UF and Rollins. I would have probably gone to Rollins anyways because of all the money they have offered me to go there, but I at least wanted to say I turned down somewhere cool. I wasted $350 (5 OOS schools) for nothing.

Sorry about that little rant.

but it just feels like all my hard work has gone to waste.

[/quote]

No way!

I promise you that if you continue to work hard and try to be the best student and person possible, you will succeed, be happy, and have a rewarding life. Admissions decisions are made by humans and humans make mistakes despite how hard they work to avoid making mistakes. Life is full of bumps in the road and, unfortunately, this is one of those bumps. I hope you will continue your pattern of achievement. The rest of us out here are cheering for you.

"I only worked this hard, taking on multiple leadership positions, 7 AP's this year, and a bunch of other crap to get into super good schools."

'nuff said.

^^ I'm not understanding your point. Are you trying to say that truly passionate people are the only ones that are allowed to work that hard? I do have passions, but they don't include all 7 of my AP classes. Maybe my extracurriculars, but even then I don't enjoy extreme amounts of work if I don't have to do it. And obviously I didn't push myself enough since I didn't get anywhere top tier, unless you count #47 UF.

No. What I'm saying is that if you did all this 'crap' just to get into 'good schools' then you were probably not doing it for the reasons why other students at 'good schools' did.

I dunno why you would want to go to Hopkins if you "don't enjoy extreme amounts of work" when Hopkins is known for being very academically rigorous.
