Regular Decision vs Early Decision

My dream school is NYU, and I'm thinking of applying there early decision next year. My grades have had an upward trend, and my freshman year GPA is kinda holding me back with a 3.5 GPA. Senior year I will be taking 4 AP courses, AP Statistics, BC Calculus, AP Bio and AP French. Should I hold off on early decision so that NYU can see all of the classes I am taking and how good I am doing in them? Or should I apply early decision to try to increase my chances?

Applying ED rarely increases your chances. The rate is higher then because of recruited athletes and such, but for the average applicant, the only benefit, really, is that you find out some months earlier.

Depends on the school. NYU’s ED rate is higher, and I don’t think they have recruited athletes (do they even have athletes?).

However, I would advise that you NOT apply ED to NYU if you can’t pay the full price. They are widely known for having the worst FA of non-profit universities.

ED can be the absolute best decision ever( speaking from personal experience), but it is only for a certain group of people. Things to consider:
-Financial Aid: ED you might not be offered as much as you would be RD
-Acceptance Rates: At some schools applying ED really ups your chances, but at others, it almost hinders them

No matter what, remember that there is a school out there that is perfect for you, and more importantly will WANT you to attend. Keep your head up and good luck!
Oh, and if you do get in ED, keep up with your work!
