GCmom415, my daughter is a junior. I am an alumna from back when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I have helped out at college fairs as an alumni/ae volunteer. We visited with 3 friends of my daughter and they all liked it. But of course they liked Cornell better (today’s visit)!

Have your daughter write to the admissions office ASAP to see if they can schedule someone to talk with her. I had my daughter write last Friday and it was obvious that it was too late. Of course this was an extremely busy weekend. NYC’s Feb. school vacation was shortened to just Monday and Tuesday and they don’t schedule tours those days so it was a big crowd on Sunday.

Of course they are very busy this time of year!

I’m curious if my daughter will like the campus. Its very different than the small school her brother goes to. Waiting now for regular decision is tough…and we wait.

Got my acceptance letter last week. I am actually surprised that I receive it from Binghamton before other less competitive schools such as New Paltz.
For the review pattern, I heard one of my classmates said that the office divided the applications in piles and reviewed one pile at a time. Once they find the applicants they want they mail the acceptance letter. That’s maybe why people get heard from the school at different time.
For stats(in case someone’s interested), I live in Brooklyn,NY. My SAT is 2040. I took 3 aps last year and 2 this year(only 7 AP courses are offered in my school). For extracurricular, nothing really special. I did internships at museum and hospital and some volunteers. The hook, I guess, is the fact that I am a first generation immigrant. I’ve only been in States for less than 3 years and my first language is not English.I am not surprised to find out I am accepted. I wouldn’t say Binghamton is my safety school but one of the schools I can expect to get in.
But anyway,good luck guys!

My son was accept to UBuffalo Engineering with a small scholarship and Penn State as well. Basically he doesnt want to consider anything until he hear from Binghamton. This wait is painful. He was deferred as well, which wasnt a surprise to me. Anybody here know how UB’s engineering department compares to Binghamton? I appreciate any feedback.

UB’s engineering program is amazing; it ranks high. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that engineering is better at UB than Bing. My friend just got accepted into that program too, and will be attending this fall. Tell your son to not stress out.

Would be nice if they let all the RD kids one way or another. my son pretty has everything on hold until he hears from them. I guess we have to be patient.

@dadrangerfan… I know…my daughter was up there this weekend. She spoke to an admissions person and he said could be month. I think the RD is April 1. My daughter was deferred to RD.

Thanks for letting me know, GCmom. I know they are clear that we’ll know by April 1, but it is a little frustrating because they have to know they are a #1 choice for many kids. I took a look at RPI, and they said they would let everyone know on March 9 at 7PM. I wish every school would give a firm time & date. I am sure though, that every school has their own unique situations and way of operating, but in a perfect world, being given an exact time and date would help, instead of nervously checking every day.

Its very stressful I know. I think the hardest part is not knowing until April 1 for most of the privates as far as financials. April will be a busy month of traveling for many of us to get that final look at the schools.

What’s also hard is that if our kids dont get accepted, then they have lost time getting priority status for first year housing in the other schools that accepted them. Oh well.
Let’s hope we are sitting in the same orientation room in July and not even know it. :-)

Guys i got accepted officially today and i applied late (January 2). I checked BU Brain. I don’t think it will take all the way till April 1st. Binghamton Class of 2017! Lets Go! I’m signing my NLI next week :).

So Binghamton just sent me a save the date for the Admitted Students Days coming up in April even though I have yet to receive a decision since applying in December. Is this good news or just a blanket message?

im in the same situation newguy, idk what this means but another college did this to me and then i received an acceptance letter a couple of days later, so im guessing its the same for Binghamton
