Regular Decision

So, just how hard is it to get into Vandy with Regular Decision. How does it compare to ED2 in terms of acceptance chances.

You will have better option getting selected with ED2. RD is the most competitive.

I am aware of that. I was just wondering how big of a difference will it be?

Thanks

In general, the floor for ED I appears to be around 32 ACT, for ED II 33/34, and 34+ for RD.

^ I agree with @timetodecide12. At least, that’s what it seems like.

From previous years, the acceptance rate for ED1/2 is 20 - 25%. The acceptance rate for RD is 11 - 13%.

I had a discussion earlier this year with one of the admissions counselors and was told that tests scores are not a significant determination for acceptance. The further your test scores are away from the middle 50%, the better your other stats need to be. For an example, a validictorian with a 31 ACT from a competitive high school is not going to be hurt by the standard test score.

The admissions office is building a class. The advantage of ED is that you are able to fill some of the attributes being looked for in the overall class composition before there is more competition for those spots. Vanderbilt is confident that over 90% of their applicants could be successful at the University. They told us that at a Parent’s Meeting on Move-in Weekend last year.

As with all highly selective universities, no one is assured acceptance based on test scores and grades.

Ok. Thanks for all the responses!
