Regular Decisions for Class of 2017

I tried logging in yesterday but some sort of error came up.
Nothing yet in western Europe…

called admissions and they told me that they once they make their decisions they get rid of the ID/PIN login website.

Anyone from California hear back from Bates? If it takes longer to arrive does that mean it’s more likely a large envelope?

WL she was very high on. One more (high choice) to go.

International will receive email on Apr.1st and the letter later. I am pretty sure about it. I am from Beijing and I was admitted in ED2. This was how I got the exciting news!

Hi - first class mail takes the same amount of time whether it’s big or little. It’s probably that you’re far away from Maine that you haven’t heard yet.

did anyone here not get their decision yet who lives in MA?

My son’s friend who lives in MA got his letter Wednesday afternoon. I’d say if you don’t have a letter by Monday you should call Bates admissions.

well I got waitlisted. but I’m proud of myself for even just that! and a big CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who got in!!! you guys should all feel very proud of yourselves. even if you get rejected just know that you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be!

Can anyone confirm LynnDay’s comment (45th post)? That internationals won’t receive the letter from admissions before the 1st of April but will receive an email on that day.

“Bates has mailed the decision letters for Early Decision Round II. We are excited to be able to share the decision with you. I am attaching the Bates letter in this email. For international students, there is no deposit to send, but we do need to receive your response in writing as soon as possible, and no later than March 1, 2013.”

This is what the Dean of international admission said in my acceptance email. In the email, she attached the PDF version of my acceptance letter. I received the actual mail around the end of Feb, a big env. with a big Congratulations! on it. USPS.

I hope they did the same with RD applicants.

Good Luck!

Newenglandlover - where did I read that Bates took many off the waitlist last year. I can’t help but think with everyone applying to tons of places this year that it will be similar (unless they accepted more in anticipation). That’s all a little mysterious to me. Good luck to you as well!

My understanding is that Bates sends all letters on the same day but that since international mail generally takes considerably longer than domestic mail to arrive international students may get their letters days or weeks later than US students. Because of the fickleness of international mail systems Bates allows international students to access their results by email around the date by which they expect all domestic letters to have arrived, this year April 1.

Last year Bates took a high number of students off the waiting list-72, or about 22 percent of kids who accepted a place on the list. The year before they took only 12, or about 4 percent of kids on the list. In both years the number of kids initially waitlisted was more than 4-5 times the number of kids who accepted a place on the list. In other words, even last year only 4.5 percent of kids initially placed on the waiting list ended up being offered a place.

Thanks for this information - I think it’s you who posted that before? This year I’m just amazed at the colleges who’ve seen a 30% increase in applications. I think it was a really tough year for a lot of kids.

Just received my acceptance package! I’m really happy, received financial aid of $31,650 but will have to discuss with my parents if they can afford the rest.

Congradulations azazel222! Have any internationals heard yet?

^I just received my letter. Accepted! My FA package wasn’t available because apparently i didn’t submit one of the required forms… Ups.

@TiagoCorreia Did you get an email?

Not yet, I received the letter through mail.

I just called the admissions office and they said they will send the emails to internationals “some time this afternoon”.
