I just called the Admissions Office at Amherst, and I was told that we won’t be receiving our decisions until “after April 15.” That puts Amherst two weeks after almost every other adcom. Comrades, let the wait begin…

uh i just called and they said "you will hear no later than april 15th"

I really don't think they'd make us wait till April 15th...that would only give us 2 weeks to visit and choose...

i really doubt they would make you wait until April 15th too, because the admitted students days are April 17th and 18th

I guess she misspoke. She sounded uber-frustrated--must get that question all the time.

Every college or university is responsible to send notifications the first week of April as we are responsible to reply to them before May 1st. I dont think we will hear in two weeks. My guess is that we will hear next week either before April 1st or in April 1st.

Best Wishes to Everyone!

they send out notifications no later than april 1st but if you live really far away and are rejected, the mail could take as long as two weeks. they send acceptances priority.

any email notification? if just regular mail, i am really going to hear from them after "April 15th". China is too far away from the U.S. :)

For me, with the Early Write, I got an e-mail first, inviting me to chat - it said something like: now that you've been admitted(?!) come on and chat with us. You can imagine my reaction, but I called the admission office just to make sure - and the letter arrived next day by UPS"48 hours delivery" (which actually took five days, but never mind). So for many internationals, an e-mail might do the job, although Amherst did not intend this.

thanks, bogororo :)
