I'm waiting for notification. Should be coming in a couple of weeks. I am fully expecting it to be a rejection and won't be surprised if it is, but the annoyingly optimistic part of me says I have a chance and shouldn't solidify my plans until I know for sure. Unfortunately, since school ends June 9th, I can't exactly wait to make these plans until May 20th or whatever, so I'm prepared for the worst and most likely.

1) RN Transfer applicants: How do you feel right now? ;)
2) EN Transfer applicants: When did you receive notification? Was there anything different about your application webpage that clued you in? Did you get Financial Aid with the admit letter? Did you decide you're going?

There wasn't much that told me ahead of time... although other people said that their thing went from "Hello, [name]" to just "Hello", and they were rejected; mine stayed "Hello, [name]" (I was accepted).

I didn't get financial aid with my decision, and still haven't gotten it, but I bet it's partly because stuff wasn't sent in on time. (sigh) I received notification about two weeks into April, maybe a little later.

And yeah, I'm about 90% sure that I'm coming to UChicago. I'm definitely choosing it over Wellesley, Rice, Carnegie Mellon, and Smith. If I were to get into Stanford or Yale it might throw me for a loop, but there is a VERY large chance I'll be at UChicago next year. I'm assuming I will be.

Hey, does anyone know: What do UChicago students call themselves??? "Maroons"? Or what?

anisky: Thank you! I don't know how much merit that name thing has, unless they decided to reject me before they received my application. It's never said "Welcome, <my name="">" :P So much for that! ^^</my>

Did FA have trouble with your forms? They've sent me several mailings and emailed me a few times telling me I was missing forms that I know very well I mailed/faxed/submitted online. I just can't believe that it bodes well that they are doing this to me, and I'm miffed that I'm spending all this money to resend things to them when they're going to reject me. :/

You've got some excellent choices! UChi is my only choice; had I your schools, I would definitely pause with Stanford and Yale! Best of luck. :)

Their mascot is the Phoenix... I don't know that they "call" themselves anything. Cal Bears is just the sports team, after all. People don't go around with "I'm a Bear" too much.

undecided- Yeah... but most schools at least have a word for themselves. At Yale I'd be a "Yalie". At Rice I'd be an "Owl." At Smith I'd be a "Smithie". At my current college, I'm a "Rocker" (by far the best).

I don't think they had trouble... in fact they didn't tell me at all that anything was missing for financial aid until I got my acceptance and it said "We can't evaluate your financial aid without this and this."

I can't honestly think of anything they'd call themselves. I mentioned Cal because it's the closest school that I can think of, and even though they have a high profile athletics department, if you gradute from Cal you aren't a "Bear" or "Cali" (hahaha), you're just a Cal grad. UCSC has the Banana Slugs, and yes, we call ourselves the Banana Slugs. That would lend to UChi students being Phoenixes or Maroons, but I've never heard anyone actually calling themselves that. Identity crisis much? ;)

The financial aid thing bugs me. A lot of it is their fault. For example, I submitted the Form 4 /online/, and a couple weeks ago they sent me an email saying they hadn't received it. I was speechless. How do you lose something submitted online? When I called, it seemed they "didn't have access to that anymore," to which I said "..." and resent things. :P The part that miffs me is that this financial aid debacle doesn't mean anything in terms of admission, which means I may very well be spending $50+ in ink, postage and confirmations for a thin envelope.

Are there any Regular Notification transfer applicants hanging around? I feel so alone!

... and I wonder about housing. I mean, if I were to be admitted (as if), that would put me leagues and leagues behind everyone else. Does that exclude Regular Notification transfer admits from choice in housing?

Ahhh. I've heard that too, idad; I'd forgotten. :) I think I would call myself a Maroon. Stanford students are Cardinals, so... I just think it's not much of an association. It's like "I'm in the Army" versus "I'm a Marine" -- certain colleges (who, coincidentally, often think of themselves as better than other colleges, and not without due cause) are just so cool that their students can say "I am a UChicago graduate" and that's all you need to know. :>

In other news, I called the admissions office again (obsessive, I know :p), and they said that regular notification transfer students should "hopefully hear by the end of the week." Whatever that means.
