I realize the Reilly invites aren’t out yet for this class, but I was wondering if any legacies are ever invited, or does ND assume that legacies don’t need to be further recruited once they’ve been accepted. I’d love to hear from any legacies in recent years who did receive a Reilly invitation.
Yes, Legacies can get invited. (2011 ND grad). Its super selective though, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get it. It was a great experience, but I think it is somewhat related to specific areas of study (?science). Usually must have a 35 or 36 ACT.
Yes. Legacy here and our 3rd just accepted EA. Oldest was invited to Reilly 3 years ago (through RD: invited late Feb for an April weekend before she received official acceptance); went to weekend and loved it, but went to college elsewhere for a program ND did not have. She had Near perfect SATs/ valedictorian/6 APs all 5’s. Our 2nd child with 2300 SATs but not valedictorian currently at ND; no Reilly invite but this child went to and LOVES ND and carries a 4.0! Our 3rd has a 34 ACT and is currently #1 in class, so will see…honestly, the Reilly weekend seals the deal for the kids with stats allowing them Ivy
access…really showcases the place for those super high scorers//high GPA kids. Nice trip but def did not make or break our kids’ decisions. Best to yours and Go Irish!
Son was recently accepted early action and pre-admitted Mendoza. In the event he gets a Reilly invite, does anyone know if they allow EA kids to attend the later Reilly weekend? He has already committed to his State DECA competition on what I anticipate will be the EA Reilly event.
In 2012 there were at least 3 kids that were REA but came for the April weekend (it was first of month) due to various Feb conflicts. ND was flexible then…
Has anyone received a Reilly invite yet or know whether they will be coming be email or snail mail?
Last year a girl from our high school reported on CC that she received her Reilly invite 12/22/14, but I don’t know if it was via email or snail mail. Can past Reilly invitees enlighten us?
I just got a Reilly invite today via snail mail. Best of luck to everyone who is hoping for one!
Anyone in Wisconsin receive one today?
In Wisconsin, received the invitation today!
In TN just got a generic (but nice) Christmas card. Bummer… was hoping daughter would receive Reilly invite, both because her application was strong enough to get one, and because the weekend could have removed doubts about ND being her first choice!
Does the Reilly invitation come with the official snail mail Notre Dame acceptance? If not, before or after the packet? I just received my official acceptance packet today in California.
@4X529s If you just got the generic Christmas card, your Reilly weekend invite could be in the mail. I got my Reilly invite on Monday, while my Christmas card came Saturday. @dancing1 The Reilly invite comes separately and about 2-3 days (excluding Sunday) after the admissions packet. Good luck to both of you!
Is there a link for Reilly or is it in the same place as the admissions portal?
@ilhistorygeek Thanks, but unfortunately nothing today either. Shouldn’t have had my hopes up - daughter had 35 ACT, 2330 SAT and straight As in maxed AP classes with great leadership and service. But I suppose there were probably more than 100 admitted students that match that profile! Congrats to you and others invited!
@4X529s Sorry your D has not received a Reilly invite, yet. If she does not, don’t worry too much. Our D is a freshman at ND and did not receive a Reilly invite even though she had a 36 ACT, was a NMF and had a very impressive HS record. We were a little disappointed, too. If your D decides to attend ND, she will find that there are many high achieving students in her class. After her first semester, our D has found ND to be harder than expected, but she loves it. I wish the same for your D and the entire ND class of 2020.
@4X529s Sorry to hear about your daughter. Her stats are pretty comparable to mine so that’s surprising. Maybe its just slow mail? The invite says that they will send an invite via mail on the 26th, so there is still hope until then. From what I hear from past Reilly students, Reilly is a weekend that is used to attract people that may not otherwise pick ND and is fairly arbitrary otherwise. Again, sorry your daughter didn’t receive an invite.
Can anyone explain to me what this “Reilly Invitation” is and the importance of it? I got pre-admiited to Mendoza REA 2015 and only received the admissions packet and x-mas card so far. Any explanation for a clueless guy like me?
Alright thanks. I live in Cali and received my admissions packet about 4-5 days ago (I think) and my christmas card 1-2 days ago. When do you guys think the Reilly invitation will get sent out to Cali folks? Is it safe to assume that I won’t be getting one based on the amount of days passed already?
