When acceptance and rejection day came around, I was as anxious as everyone to check. Only to be let down by a rejection letter

"Thank you for logging in to the UC San Diego application status Web site for Fall Quarter 2009 undergraduate applicants. We have carefully reviewed your application and regret that we are unable to offer you admission to the University of California, San Diego. The selection process was very difficult this year as we had an excellent pool of competitive applicants."

I was a bit disappointing by this, as I thought my application was pretty good, and for sure better than a lot of my friends who got accepted.

Heres where the weird thing happens. Today I come home from school with this email.

"Hello XXXXX!

Were thrilled that youve been admitted to UC San Diego, and were showcasing our beautiful campus on Admit Day.

Hope you can join us this Saturday, April 4 to get an introduction to academic programs, get acquainted with your college, and get a glimpse of the powerful combination that can be YOU plus UC San Diego. If you havent RSVPd online yet, take a few seconds to let us know youre on your way. If you have, you can update your information and either way, well see you here."

Whats up with that?

Are they just messing with my mind, and think its funny to get my hopes up even though I'm rejected?! Is there someplace i should contact to get this straightened out?
