Rejected and Desperate for a Solution #University

My college didn’t accept me into their candidate weekend which means I don’t really have anywhere to go. They misinformed me though, giving me wrong requirements. I just don’t understand this and I’m confused.

I’m not sure I understand. You say “my college.” Were you already admitted? I thought candidate weekends were a step of the admission process. When you say you have nowhere to go, do you mean that this is the only school to which you applied? And how did they give you incorrect requirements? You’ll need to be more specific if you’re asking for advice.

Your other thread indicates that your top choice is NYUAD. If you didn’t get a notice for accepted students’ weekend, you haven’t been admitted.

Are you a US citizen? Have you applied to any other schools?

Oh sorry, I meant my first choice

I’m not a US citizen, I’m an Abu Dhabi local. I’ve applied to Sorbonne AD which I’m sure I’ll get into. I still want to go to nyuad, since it’s been my dream. I might take a gap year or maybe repeat my exams, I just don’t get why they didn’t tell me that their requirements changed?

The told me they didn’t need A levels from locals but needed 3 AS levels and they seemed okay with it. I’m doing 4 and when I called today the admissions lady said that they needed 6 AS levels. I’m just really confused as to why they didn’t tell me this when they came to career day (I could’ve taken up 2 more as levels and passed with a good grade)

@NerdMom88 sorry for being misleading

@austinmshauri ^ sorry for not mentioning you

Also ECA wise, I’ve done so many things and I’m head girl of my school. Getting a rejection hit me really hard. Do you think I should stay in school next year and apply again? Or just go to another university

I’m not trying to be negative, but helpful.

If their requirements are not what you believed, either they changed after you met with the college representative, the rep didn’t have the correct information, or you misunderstood. Two of those three things are your responsibility, and I would have double-checked even a college rep’s information. Schools will not proactively let you know when their requirements have changed. You always, always need to check online to ensure you’re doing exactly what they want.

It sounds as if you have another option to which you think it’s likely you’ll be accepted. Is the school affordable to you? Is it one where you’d be happy going? If so, great! If not, consider a gap year.

@NerdMom88 I might give it a week to think about it. I don’t know if I really want to take a gap year. I might go ahead and finish my A levels next year and then reapply. So just go with their requirements

That’s a good idea. That way you get what you really want!
