I am in-state. Have over a 6.0 weighted gpa and a 3.7 unweighted I believe (still waiting on official transcripts from second semester). An act score of 27 and SAT of 1780.

Is it worth trying to appeal?? Im not even sure what I would appeal about if I did…

UFgirl, it is impossible to have a weighted GPA of 6.0 because nothing is weighted over 5.0 and you would have had to get all A’s and have taken all AP classes in high school to get a 5.0.

We can’t really tell you whether you should appeal as UF looks at the complete package with each applicant to determine whether they accept you or not. They look at so much more than your GPA and test scores. Unless there is something that has changed since you applied that makes you a more qualified candidate than how your application presented you, I’m not sure they would entertain an appeal.

But as I always say when you really want something and are determined, it doesn’t hurt to try.

Uhhhh really?? Because there are people with gpa’s over 6.3’s at my school o.O. Do you think if i retook the act in feb (because i did for scholarships) and got a better score they would consider it?? or is it just the whole family and health issue things??

And if I do appeal and still do not get in will they hold that against me if I apply for a transfer??

Uhhhh - Yes it realllly is impossible to get a UF gpa over 5. UF does not care about how your school figures your GPA. My son went to a school that gave 1 pt extra for honors, AP and DE. His last two years he moved to a school that only gave .5 pts for honors. I don’t think UF even weights honors and non academic classes.
UF has their own method of calculating GPA and that is what they use when they consider admission. You need to recalculate your GPA using UF’s formula. I can’t locate the link right now but there are quite a few posts floating around on CC that site it. I think basically it is 1 extra pt for AP and dual enrollment academic classes.
