rejected at Cornell, accepted somewhere "better"?

has anyone been deffered, waitlisted, or rejected from Cornell, but have been able to get in at other ivy leagues or schools of similar caliber?

Waitlisted then offered a guaranteed transfer at Cornell... was accepted to Bowdoin, Amherst and Dartmouth.

Yeah I was rejected from Cornell but got accepted at Dartmouth, Duke and Penn. It all depends on the school and how they view your application I guess.

I know a Cornell wait-list student who got into Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth.

I've seen someone get rejected from Cornell on here but get into Dartmouth.

Neither were too broken up about it.

weird i got into cornell and dartmouth but not wesleyan and duke sometimes its just random

I know someone who was rejected from Wash U in St. Louis, Northwestern, and U of Chicago. He was devastated and with Yale and Harvard being the only two colleges left to respond, he was pretty sure that he would attend the local state university. Well guess what? He got rejected from Yale, but he got into Harvard! Moral of the story is that the whole college admission process is a complete puzzle and you can’t really predict where you’ll go based on where you get rejected.
