Rejected at UCLA but Accepted at Berkeley

Anyone out there on CC get rejected from UCLA and is now banking on Berkeley?

Are you much more nervous than before?

Have you heard stories of people rejected from UCLA and accepted at Berkeley?

I'm not going to be a Bruin, but all along I really wanted to be a Bear!

It happens all the time. There were plenty of people last year that got into Berkeley but not UCLA.

“Plenty”.

^^^ seconded. I’ve been neurotically reading past threads, and there’s been quite a few that were rejected from LA but accepted to Cal (or vice versa).

There r even ppl rejected from uci, ucsd and got into ucla

It happens. If it makes you feel more confident during the next 5 days to know that then, yeah, it happens quite often every year. I, personally, am not banking on that fact, though. Guilty until proven innocent – it’s the pessimist’s way :)

One person on this board got rejected at Berkeley, but got accepted to Caltech with scholarships!

@hesdjjim, that makes sense if the applicant was strong, because private schools not only get fewer applicants than do UCs, but they have a LOT more money to hand out via scholarships than public UCs do.

I got rejected to Davis but accepted to UCLA. So of course it’s possible.

I’ve heard this happens quite often over the years. I hope it happens to me, if not SD here I come =]

happened to me!

The schools are equally competitive. Plenty of kids get into one but not the other.

Happened to me…there must have been a reason I started this thread! I’m a Golden Bear!!!

Happened to me, and I’m now very happy :)

@backinthegame

One of my classmates got accepted to every UC except Davis. Go figure?

^ hahaha every UC??? they paid all those application fees?! no way.

He comes from a VERY wealthy family. Hahah.
