Rejected at UCR but accepted in UCSB?

So I'm really confused right now.
I applied to 5 UCs, right?
My reaches were UCSB (top choice), UCI and UCD (I wasn't really keen on UCD)
UCSC was my target and UCR was my safety
but I got rejected from every single UC I applied to except UCSB
Furthermore, UCR said 'Although all applicants were talented and able students, we could not consider those who did not satisfy the University of California eligibility and our selection requirements. Consequently, we regret that we cannot admit you for Fall 2010.'
& I'm pretty sure I'm UC eligible (I checked beforehand with the UC eligibility idex & I have a 4220 when the minimum required is a 2900.
Can anyone explain this? =/

omg i freaking am so jealous of you right now looool
i would trade my situation for yours anyday ;__;
good job  although i have no idea why it came to be like that. but then again. this year’s admissions were pretty weird…

lol thanks xD
it really is weird =[
but it worked out in my favor though =]

UCSB is beautiful, I was accepted there way back (1997/98) but my parents wouldn’t let me since it was for marine biology. And I was accepted in CS at UCR.

UCs doesn’t just look at your application, scores, etc. when making their decisions. each college (major) only have a certain number of spaces available, then they have a wait list that they “accept” (those students usually get fully accepted after people drop out by the second quarter). So when the major you applied for is full, the rest of the people get denied with their generic letter.

Remember UCSB has been labeled as a “party” school. But that’s only if you choose that route.

yeah UCSB seems beautiful =] & i’m completely fine with going there (yep, even despite all the partying =P)
but i applied for an English major to each college & i didn’t think that was a very competitive major to apply for?

haha congrats, though I regret nothing of picking UCR over UCSC

UCR is stepping its game up.
No more calling it a backup school anymore. lol!

that is merced now.

it was about time our bio dept/ pre med dept is one of the most successful in the nation

Mine said the same thing as yours something about eligibility. i called the counselor and asked him why, turns out they made a mistake an i got in.
